Hi Ladies, I was wondering if any of you have nannies, and if so, how did you find them? I am in need of a part-time nanny for my 15 month old son, and I am having trouble finding one. I have tried contacting some of the nannies on nannies4hire.com but none of them even take the time to reply! I have asked this website for my money back and am looking for another option. Of course, I need someone trustworthy and I would definitely check refernces and do a background check. I looked into an agency but it is REALLY expensive (about $1,000 just to find one)! If I don't come up with another way to find one then I will use the agency. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Forgot to mention - we live in the Westchase/Countryway area.

What can I do next?

I live in the same area and found my nanny through my neighbors. I asked if they knew of anyone and they had an acquaintance that worked PT in a daycare center but was looking for more hours. I was really looking for something temporary until I could get my kids into a daycare but it worked out so well that she's still with us...she'll be available in Jan. as we are moving to the other side of town, though I'm sure she'll be wanting FT hours.

I don't know if this will be any help, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway. My mother-in-law was a nanny for years. She was first hired by a couple in her church. She was actually working in the preschool and the couple liked her and asked her to quit the preschool and come work full-time as a nanny. She did and loved it. Some of their friends were wanting to get a nanny and they asked her if she knew anybody. She recommended a friend and she took the job. Maybe this will give you some ideas of finding one.

My mother-in-law lives down in Brandon and has been looking for part-time work. She was let go by the family when their kids started school. She's been looking for a job, but would prefer part-time. So if you'd like to talk to her, let me know. I don't know how far away you are from her so I'm not sure if that would be an issue or not. I know she can provide you with references.

I don't have a nanny, but I know some that used to do it. I rememeber them getting the person from the USF paper ad. USF has a school paper that is put out daily, and many people list for nannies in there. This way you attract college students majoring in elementary education and you may meet someone who suits your needs. Just a suggestion.

Nannies post all the time on Craig's List in the childcare section. http://tampa.craigslist.org/kid/
Hope this helps and good luck with your search :)
