Hurrah, that's where I had my baby nineteen years ago! Although it had a different name.
It varies from hospital to hospital. Check with your hospital and insurance co. Sometimes the money is what determines that factor.

Two friends of mine delivered there. The one that had a c-section had her own room. The one that delivered vaginally shared a room. I can only imagine how crowded and awkward it was to have both husbands sleep in the same room.

i work at st.alexius & yes you may end up with a room mate. all the rooms are semi-private and we try to keep you private for as long as census allows. we do ask that dads not spend the night if you are sharing a room w/another patient. it's a great hospital to deliver at and we have a wonderful friendly staff.

So St. Alexius has no LDRP-rooms/birthing-rooms where you labor, give birth, recover, and have your postpartum in the same room? You still have to move from room to room for each stage of your time in the hospital?? I'm curious about why you want to deliver in a place without LDRP rooms.

I hope that you have a lovely birth and postpartum.

I had a baby in the different hospital and it did had both private and shared rooms. The price for stay in both rooms was the same, you would get private room on first come first serve basis. Check with the hospital or better take a tour, mine was very clear about every policy and detail.

i delivered my first son there in 2003. Now it was Christmas time actually Christmas eve to be exact, and I ended up having my own room during the rest of my stay. Not sure if things have changed since but it is good to ask. This was not so for my second child at Loyola in 2006. I shared with a woman who was up all night breastfeeding. My sister-in-law just delivered at Lutheren General in Niles/Park Ridge and she had her own room. I think it just depends on what is available. Call and ask the hospital.
