Hormonally Embalanced

I am hormonally embalanced and the nurse practitioner only suggested that I get on Yaz. My instinct tells me not to. Are there any herbal or other choices I have?

What can I do next?

Here's what I have done and will be doing. I went to a local Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Medical center which drew a little blood to test my hormonal level. After attending a seminar they held, they did it for free. They initially just check Estrogen, Testosterone, and B12 levels. I found out yesterday that my Testosterone is a level 35. I was told is should be in the 200 - 300 range. Now, I can't afford the more than $2000 annual expense for their services. However, I can better afford a non invasive therapy called Quantum Biofeedback.

I see a physician, but only for diagnostic reasons. I now primarily see a QBS or Holistic MD for healing and wellness. It's been more beneficial overall than any MD. Typical MD's caused me to get sicker, and worse, for 3 1/2 years. MD's can only treat how they have been trained to treat. Which is primarily with Meds, which only treat symptoms, not correct imbalances at the core problem.

Here is the site for my QBS: http://www.aquantumoasis.com/?page_id=17 She may be able to refer you to someone, or work remotely. Yes, this type work can be done from a distance. She has clients send in a hair sample and some specific info and can consult and scan clients for issues while on the phone with them. It's remarkable futuristic technology, and it works wonderfully.

In addition eliminating Gluten from my diet has helped tremendously, and primarily avoiding processed sugars. Gluten has helped make HUGE difference.

Remember, doctors are practicing and certainly don't know "all." What an MD knows varies from one to another. Take you health into your hands, ask questions, get second options, research, and be open to complimentary & natural (many consider alternative) methods of treatment or therapy.

I have had all kinds of hormone imbalances over the years. I will tell you that Yaz will only mask the true problem. I have had the best results when working with doctors that use Naprotechnology. This technology was crated by Dr. Thomas Hilgers. He has trained doctors from all over the world. Check with his sight at Pope Paul the VI Institute. You should be able to find a doctor near you that can help.

I have a wonderful naturopath who helped me tremendously! I can't take bc b/c it really screws me up... then I'm on anti-depressants, then b/c of the anti-depressants, I end up on sleep meds. It's bad!
One of the ladies on mamasource pointed me to Tracey & Sonia at Heights of Health (heightsofhealth.com). They are WONDERFUL! Very nice ladies. They work with the physical, emotional, & mental issues that are causing symptoms and actually help your body cure the issue rather than just masking it. And I can't tell you how much better my allergies are! It's amazing!!
I apparently was menopausal at age 27, and we had given up on having any more children. About 6 weeks after I started seeing them, I got preggo with my 2nd son (we'd been trying for over 3 yrs). Now we're joking they fixed me too well b/c we just found out we'll be having Irish twins!

Which hormones and how do they know? Did they draw blood? Have you do a symptom checklist?
I can tell you that in my late 30's, (I'm now 48) I was convinced I was pre-menopausal. I went to 4 docs in 2 years and they all told me I was nuts and kept wanting me to go back on birth control pills, anti-depressants etc.
I finally found a doc who said I was not too young AND drew all the blood work to prove it. Plus he had written a little book and in it a check list of 30 symptoms that I could check 20!
I realize you are probably a lot younger than I am and that may not be the case, I just wanted to tell you that you don't have to take the answer you are given if your intuition tells you it's not right for you.

I'm not sure about herbs although I'm not opposed to them. I did do the natural hormones for about 5 years. But probably the biggest help in my life and symptoms is changing my diet. I eat very little sugar (you can't get away from it totally, even plain yogurt has some sugar) and VERY little packaged/processed foods full of chemicals. I also believe in the benefits of a couple of nutritional supplements.

I'm now much closer to the natural menopause age and my symptoms are not too bad.

Message me privately if you want more info or if you have more questions.

In good health,

Follow your instincts. Perhaps a day spa?? One near me works wonders on these type of things. You'll know when you're on to the right thing for you. Good luck and God bless!

I know this doesn't answer your actual question, but I can tell you that Yaz has really made a difference for my daughter. She would have extremely heavy periods that would last 10-12 days, was irregular, and it was affecting her mentally too. Now, with Yaz, they are much lighter, only lastlng 3-4 days, she knows exactly when to expect her period, and she can now think much more clearly (one doctor had thought she was having absence seizures, but it was the hormone imbalance) I did not want to put a teenager on the pill, but when the benefits were explained to me about it balancing her hormones, we decided to give it a try. I am so glad that we did.

I won't use any form of birth control pill because of the possibility of it causing a fertilized egg from implanting (I consider that abortion.) Actually, my sister lost a baby at 12 weeks from the pill (she didn't realize she was pregnant and continued taking the pill everyday.)

Anyway, I would ask your dr what natural alternatives are available. Dr Hector Del Castillo (OBGYN) in the Houston Medical Center does bio-identical hormone replacement, he is a great person to discuss alternatives with. As far as OBs go, he's the most gentle, concerned, and natural minded OB I've been too.

Wish you the best!
S.

I used to be afraid of being on a hormonal birth control. I didn't need birth control anyhow, so completely stayed away from them for my entire life till age 34. I don't like taking any sorts of meds. I started YAZ 5 months ago and it has done nothing but positive things for me. My cycle is soooo much better, and my skin is sooooo much better! My doctor assured me that it is safe for me. I'm trusting him on that and crossing my fingers.
