Hi moms...My 2 year old is absolutley obsessed with Play-Doh. Today she got a new can (which is extremely soft and mushy)and smooshed it into the carpeting. Of couse, it is bright turquoise in color! I tried to rub a little part of it and all it did was smear it more. Any tips on what to do????
THANKS!!

This is what I found when I google searched....

When attempting to remove PLAY-DOH compound do NOT use hot water or cleaning solutions of any kind.

To remove PLAY-DOH compound from carpet or fabrics, allow it to dry completely, and then loosen with a stiff brush. It may be necessary to vacuum clean or wash with gentle soap and cold water.

You may need to repeat the process in order to completely remove the PLAY-DOH compound.

Now that you just have a slight stain, get a box of BIZZ laundry detergent and make a paste with it and some water. Spread it on there and just keep it damp by spraying it with a water bottle every couple hours. Leave it on for a day and then wash it back out (use a carpet or spot cleaner if you have one). BIZZ is the only thing I have found that gets out the last bits of stains. We used it on my husband's baby clothes (27-yr-old stains) and it got almost all of them out!!

simple advice:
no playdoh outside the kitchen
make this a rule and then if the rule is broken, no playdoh for the rest of the day
if she loves her playdoh, she'll get this pretty quickly!

leave it, let it dry and then break it up and vacumn... maybe that will work. I have a shirt with the elbow covered right now, and thats how I plan on fixing it.
I hope it works :)

LET IT DRY!!!!!! then use the sweeper to sweep it up....DO NOT RUB ANYMORE!!! Good luck....but usually after it fries it comes up really good....if not try the great value (Wal-mart brand) carpet and upholstery cleaner it works better than resolve or any other name brands....

I'll tell you what worked for me. I took a can of 'computer air spray' (for dusting electronic equipment) and turned it upside-down and sprayed. When you turn it upside down the container sprays this VERY cold liquid and it will freeze the Play-Doh so that you can probably just vacuum it up. Hope this helps.

I can only suggest waiting until it dries out and gets hard then pull it out of the carpet.

you have to wait til it dries and then with shoes on kick at the spot and it will come up - or take a stiff brush but it has to be dried out not still soft and mushy - you might still have a tint with that spot but I have used this stuff called natures miracle ( I found it in the petstore white bottle with red lettering) and it took up the stained color. Good luck!!

My daughter did this exact same thing about 3 weeks ago ~ and with the exact same bright blue one!! I wasn't home, but my husband used a vacuum to get up what he could and then used our steam vac to get up the rest. It's still faintly blue on the carpet where she smashed it in, but you really have to look hard to see it. Good luck in getting it out! ;-)

Hi, I don't know if you can wait but I usually let it dry out and then its easily vacuumed up. When its dry you can break it up into little pieces with a butter knife. I'm not sure what to do if you can't wait for it to dry out. Good luck!

instead of play-doh, try bread dough. At least it won't stain anything!!
