If they are going to be with you for the holidays, it would be nice to get them something they can play with right then- they may be a little shy or nervous around a lot of people. Gift cards are great, but they can't really play with them immediately!

I would ask your sister for a few ideas. Depending on how much you want to spend, consider a board game (like Battleship) for the 8 yr old b/c then he could play with either his brother or one of the cousins; no idea for the 10 yr old boy, but you could get a jewelry making kit for the girl or a scrapbook kit with a disposable camera.

How very thoughtful and welcoming!

Pajamas are always good. Books. I like the game idea a lot. Brings everyone together and is a fun social activity. I just bought my kids the 'Find it' game. It is fun and every one can have a turn....Set is fun. There are so many.

I would just get them each like a $10 gift card to Walmart. Since you don't even know these kids, I can't imagine picking out gifts for them and I think that $10 is enough.

Oooooooo yeah! Love the board game idea! Put your head together with your sis for a list of 5-8games they don't have at dad's house and wrap it like a BIG tower with a HUGE bow on top. And small personal gifts for each...fleece hoodies, gloves for each maybe?

I think it is a great idea to buy the kids something so they feel welcome. You could definitely get board games. My nephew is 9. Last year he asked for Sorry Sliders and Clue. This year he is asking for Othello, Life and Sorry. My older nephew used to ask for games at that age too. A 13 year old girl would probably appreciate a scarf (I bought my niece who was 14 one for $10 from a cart at the mall and she really liked it) or some nail polish. You could definitely ask your sister for ideas too. Good luck and Happy Holidays!
