Many strange things have passed through a couple of my children's digestive system, however, I would call the doctor, explain to them exactly what the child ate and go by their advice.
Take care!

My 2 year old found a hard card and swallowed it with the paper wrap on it. He was chocking for about 30 seconds but then he was fine. Should I be worried about this. I was wondering if it won't affect his organs.

I assume you've contacted his pediatrician about this.
Hi I.,
I just took an infant/child CPR training over the weekend. The instructor says that any time a child chokes, you need to take them to the ER. You want to make sure the lining in their throat was not damaged. Because if it was damaged, there could be swelling that could cause more choking. Hope your little guy is ok.

I wouldn't worry about a paper wrapper. Paper is basically cellulose. So are most vegetables, when you get down to the nitty gritty. He'll digest it. I wouldn't even worry much about one plastic wrapper--it'll come out the other end. Several, I would talk to dr. or poison control about.
I., call the doctor or clinic and tell them what happened to your little boy. We cannot tell you that your child will be ok over the computer--you have to tell the doctor to make sure your boy will be ok.
Dear I.,
Definitely check with the doctor to be on the safe side.
My nephew was the undisputed king of swallowing bizarre things. My sister rushed him to the ER each time.
It "always came out in the end". You have to be patient. Somethimes that takes a while. Hard candy will likely dissolve and you may or may not see small remnants of the wrapper.
Best of luck!
If he was really truly choking and his airway was closed, meaning he was not coughing, not able to make noises, he was turning blue, yes, you should call the doctor. We worry and get so nervous when our children cough and cough on something. But really as scary as this seems, when they are actually choking, they are unable to cough.
oh my goodness...I'd be going to the Dr. if I was you. Or at least call. He'll probably just pass it in his stool but how scary for you...please call the Dr and ask if they need an xray or stool softener. Good luck.
Call the Dr. now. You should have called 911 just in case anyway. Anytime a toddler chokes you need to be sure there are no other injuries. It won't affect his organs but could disrupt or hurt his stomach or digestive system. Call the Dr. now.
You need to take him to the dr right now. Has he passed it? My son swollowed a nickle at 2 yrs old. I took him to the ER that minute. The dr told me good thing because if they throw up at any time, the object can acutally get stuck in their air way coming back up from the stomach. They took an xray to make sure they knew where it was and follow it. It was to have passed the next day. Try 12 days. on day 3 they took another xray and it was still stuck in his stomach. They talked to me about having it removed. UGH! I went into preterm labor `2 days after that news as I was 8 months pregnanat when this took place. The baby was 5 days old when he finally did pass it. THe next day he got sick and threw up. PHEW!!! It is important to have your child see a dr. My dr told me that he has seen kids pass safety pins open and there were no issues.
Good luck
sahm with 2 amazing little boys, 3yrs and 8 months
You should call a doctor right away and ask him/her. Most of us moms on here are not qualified to give medical advice. Best of luck.
Have you called the dr? That would be my first thing I would do.
Do you mean hard candy with a wrapper? If so, I believe the acidity of the stomach will dissolve the wrapper. Being that it was paper I would not be worried. If he got into a lot of plastic wrapped candies i would be more concerned. Plastic, especially melamine can cause kidney damage/failure in babies...hence the China baby formula fiasco that killed tens of thousands of babies. Don't worry about it. And as for the chiking, once they either get it swallowed or cough it back up there is nothing else to do. My 8 month old baby choked on a teething biscuit last month and I actually had to do the hemliech maneuver on him to get it out. It didn't freak me out too bad because I am an ICU nurse and knew how to do it. Once it is out, the "incident" is over, there is nothing else to woory about. Hope this helps.
