I think I have been unfriended.. oh my.. someone who was there on my friends list.. is gone..

If she did unfriend me.. does that mean she disappears from groups that we are both members of??? or doesn't show up as a friend of mutual friends..

or maybe she just deleted herself from fb???

What can I do next?

Don't worry for a second about being unfriended. I just unfriended a 100 of my once 300 friends on FB. Only because I rarely interacted with them since the initial contact, and it just clogs up my news feed to have that many people. I also got rid of people that post garbage chain mail type political nonsense. I use FB to keep up with my friends and family back home. It helps feel close to them to see the kids sports photos, etc. I have been unfriended many times. I don't take it personally at all.

Yup, been unfriended and unfriended people myself.
If this is a person you knew only from a group and not in real life it's possible they decided to just keep the interactions within the group or who knows what other reason.
She will still show up in groups you are both in unless she blocked you, in which case people in that group will see her but you won't so it will sometimes look like they are talking to themselves.
She'll still show as a friend of any mutual friends you had unless she blocked you.
Or...she could have deleted her account on Facebook, in which case she's not going to be anywhere.
Unless this is a long time, dear old friend you know in real life that suddenly decided to unfriend you for no apparent reason and didn't think to talk to you first, I wouldn't worry about it. It happens. Whatever.

If she's not showing up at all, she's either removed herself from Facebook or she has blocked you. Probably the latter. It's happened to me once - actually, several times by the same person. Without any communication, not friended, she has blocked and unblocked me multiple times. She is completely crackers. I don't block people, but anytime she blocks me, it's so confusing and offensive, and then I remember how absolutely insane she is and how many people she's done it to and I view it as a blessing.

I recently just unfriended 50% of my fb friends. I decided if I didn't care if I saw them at a class reunion or they aren't active on my page then I didn't need them spying on me. I hate that more than anything. Once every 3 years someone likes a post or makes a vague comment. So I unfriended them. And I announced it before I did. I think one person unfriended me after I did that, even though they made the cut. LOL I don't even know who it is. I just went from 320 to 319 friends. Fine by me. I also have people blocked. If you block them, you can't see ANYTHING they post or comment on and vise versa. If you are just unfriended and you have mutual friends in common, then you may see her comment on your mutual friends posts. HTH. Good luck.

I've unfriended people and I've been unfriended. It's life.

I've been blocked and I've blocked a few people. It's life.

To be in a group - you DO NOT need to be friends. It's a group of people. So if she has not BLOCKED you, you will see her in groups.

Put her name in your search bar. If her page comes up and says "add a friend", she might have dropped you as a friend.

If you were blocked - you type her name, it MIGHT come up in your search...it might not - however - if you have sent messages to each other - you can click her name there and if you get a "thumbs up" icon with the message "this link has been broken." You've been blocked. If you can't find her name in your search, then she might have closed her facebook account.

If you still see her name - click on it and send her a message. Let her know you noticed you're not friends anymore.

One of my girlfriends went through a HUGE purge and kept family only. People noticed. I know I noticed. So I sent her a message. She said sorry - I ONLY want family on FB for this account - it seems that someone had taken some pictures she had posted and morphed them and then reposted. EEWW. So she made a page for friends and no longer posts personal pictures but keeps up with friends.

Any way - you can reach out to her if it means that much to you. Find out if it was a mistake or you've done something to "offend"...it's easy to do in social media - kinda like here - it's the written word and can often be misread!

Good luck!

I actually don't know if I've been unfriended or not. I have so many fb friends that unless it's someone who I write all the time, I probably wouldn't even notice...

I HAVE quietly unfriended people. I have blocked people. I have my own reasons for it, but mostly if someone is ugly to me or one of my facebook friends on MY wall.

If you type her name in and cannot find it, either she deleted herself from FB, or she blocked you. Merely defriending doesn't remove her from your sight. You should still be able to see her, but it's apparent that you two aren't facebook friends when you look at her timeline. If she just defriended you, she CAN see what you say on her own FB friends' threads, and you can see what she says. If she has blocked you, you two won't see either of your writings...

All of the above is possible.

My cousin likes to disappear and then reappear. Sometimes I can see a comment and sometimes I go take a look and he is gone. Whatever...right?

So my sister thought that he deleted her and that I spread some nonsense gossip about her, so she deleted us both. Four years (or so) later, we are talking again and she makes mention. I explain it to her and I guess she understands now.

I don't care if I get deleted...it is FB.

Could be she unfriended you or that she deleted her FB account.

Don't take being 'unfriended' personally unless you have good reason to. Most people I know have done at least one friend purge during their time on FB, where they get rid of people who are acquaintances and not actually friends, usually for privacy reasons.

I have no clue what happens after someone "unfriends" another, but I have been "unfriended" before. My brother-in-law by marriage. He married my husband's sister. I hardly know him and already had a low opinion of the guy, so I wasn't too heart broken. I adore my sister-in-law and so I will remain polite and friendly if I ever meet him again in person, but that is all. I've only met him face to face twice and the second time was at their wedding.

He unfriended me because I support gay rights and gender equality. He's VERY southern and I mean that in a BAD way.

I've done it, and it's been done to me. Sometimes people block you, and sometimes they unfriend you entirely. Usually you can still see their posts on other people pages (if they comment or like something) but you won't get their original posts in your news feed. She should show up as a friend of your mutual friend if she's still on FB. There are all kinds of privacy settings and levels (friend acquaintance, etc.)

The other thing is that sometimes people just shut down and delete their accounts. I realized someone unfriended me (and I'm not upset - she was a complete racist idiot and too many of us called her out on it), so I searched for her and I realized she has no account at all. So I guess she just went off FB entirely.

I don't sweat it. I really don't think this is the be-all and end-all!

I went through my friends this morning and put a vast majority of them as acquaintances. When I post any comment I can choose if I want it to all my friends or just to friends but not acquaintances. This way I protect my privacy when I do post something that I don't want the world to see...

I also un-friended a few. But it was because I play games with them and they don't play anymore.

What happens when you're un-friended is that you don't see their posts and they don't see yours anymore. They don't have the ability to see your photos and so forth.

I also don't follow anyone I just play games with. I don't care to see their general posts, I really could not care less if their grand kids are adorable...this keeps my wall cleaner and less clutter.

If they block you then when you hunt for them you won't be able to find their wall anymore. It will be as if they don't exist. You and that person could both be commenting on a mutual friends post and neither of you would see the others words or names or anything.

I have several people I don't like in my community blocked and I often see a comment in a thread where I figure out that person has commented because someone will say something like "Wow, that was silly John. You really caught the football behind your back?" and I can figure out that's a story I've heard before so I know that person has told that story but I can't see it at all.

So, if they've unfriended you then you should be able to find them on FB and ask them. It's not unheard of for FB to have a glitch and some of your friends disappear. I've had friends send me a message, it goes in the other box, and they say Hey, we're not friends any more, did I do something wrong? and I say no, it must be a FB issue.

I am not a big fb person. My friends and neighbors that I see on a daily or regular service. We are friends we speak and see each socially. I don't feel the need to be any more connected. I use fb for family and friends that live far away. maybe its nothing personal.

I have no idea. I don't keep track of who unfriends me, or who follows me. If they decide to unfriend me, that's their prerogative. It's Facebook, not real life.

Yes, all likely possibilities. I think unfriending people on FB is childish, unless they put some things you just don't want to be associated with, but you can block some of their stuff anyway. To me, it's like cable TV, you have many options, if you don't want to go to those stations, then don't, but you don't get rid of a whole network because of one show, well, I don't.
If I accept you as a friend, you stay as a friend on my FB, and if I do delete you I will never friend you again. I've never deleted anyone.

Facebook also goes through and deletes people on its own for some reason at times. I've had it happen many times that people accuse me of "unfriending" them, and they really aren't on my list anymore, but I did nothing.

Nope, don't have facebook.

Tyler and my oldest son do. for my oldest son it can be drama with the groups. He's cut those down to ones he really likes and participates in.

Why not just call her and ask what's up? That would be the simplest thing to do. Social Media has gotten crazy. What's wrong with talking to people???

Yes, I've been unfriended. Once for advocating for immunisations, other times for imagined slights. Other times again for general purges.

She could also have blocked you. You wouldn't know unless you asked a mutual friend if they could see her. I would assume she's in the same groups still, because unfriending has nothing to do with membership. I had 2 friends who deleted their profiles. I didn't know what I'd done to offend one of them for a long time...til we ran into each other and he said he no longer does FB. Ah...OK. Typically if someone unfriends me and I don't notice right off, then that says what I need to know. I was unfriended by a relative by marriage that I don't like anyway and basically my response to that is "Good! Saved ME the trouble!" I was only their friend in the first place for family harmony (and had them on restricted settings). Oh, but since I am not blocked by her, I still see her posts on my other relatives' pages.

Now, if my best friend unfriended me on FB, I'd be calling her and asking what's up, but she would also tell me in advance that she's quitting FB.
