I am looking for a greatplace (or person) to get my daughters hair cut. I have never had it cut and don't plan on getting any length cut off, I just want it to be cleaned up.
She has long fine hair but lots of curls that tangle on the underside layer but the top layer does not (for the most part anyway) When wet and brushed out, it comes down to the middle of her back but as it dries is curls up to her shoulder. I absolutly love her curls and we spend each morning wetting and combing, but by the end of the day, as you can imagine with any active toddler, it can be a mess.
Any other product or suggestions would also be helpful.
Thanks in Advance

I too recommend the Hairy Elephant. Both of my kids go there... my daughter has very curly hair that is always tangled and my son goes there as well, he has straight hair. They seem to be able to handle every hair type and they are a "kid" salon, so it's fun for the kids! I go to Kristen at the Ballwin location and LOVE her! We also have gone to Miranda, who is equally talented! Good luck, my daughter has lots of hair issues, so I feel your pain!

J.,

I took my bi-cultural daughter to Buffont Daddy's in Maplewood. There is a "curly hair specialist" there. He was great with my daughter and great explaining things about curly hair that I didn't know. He gave me a daily regimine and do's and don't list that was very helpful for her hair too.

I also use Curly Q www.curls.biz on her hair. The Curly Q line is just for little ones. Fuzzy duck is a popular brand as well, it just depends on her hair.

Good luck. I love curly hair too!!

I use Aveda products on myself and my daughter, which are a little pricey, but Be Curly mixed with Light elemants smothing lotion works great on my hair. My sister, who doesn't like to spend as much money as I do, plus she needs to use a lot more product than I do because her hair is dry uses a moisturizing mousse on her hair and it works really well for her.

I go to an Aveda salon in St. Louis at the Chase that I love, and I take my daughter there with me. The only thing to keep in mind is that with curly hair it sort of goes into shock when it gets cut and the curls tighten up significantly, but it loosens up aftr a couple washes. I didn't see what area you are from, so if you want to know the number for The Chase, let me know. I just cut my daughters hair myself until she was older and wanted a "real" haircut, I just trimmed it myself. We have fun salon days together now

Hey there - We got my daughters hair cut a few months ago at a place called the Hair Elephant. There is one in West County and then another one in O'Fallon. There may be more locations, but I am not sure. Anyway, we had a great experience. The kids get to pick out a movie to watch while their hair is being cut. They also get to pick which car or animal they would like to sit in to have their hair cut. When it is their first hair cut they take a picture, save a lock of their hair, and give you a nice certificate to keep. If I remember right it was about $20. It was a lot of fun and they made the experience for my daughter and me very enjoyable. They seemed very willing to accommodate your needs.
