I have naturally thin hair, but my hair is getting thinner and thinner. I know that you loose hair after a pregnancy, but my 2nd child is 19 months old and I still have chunks of hair come out on a daily basis. Has anyone else had this experience and if so what can we do? I am honestly scared that I will start to have bald spots on my head soon :-( I am only 33. Please help!

What can I do next?

As many have already mentioned, it could be due to a thyroid problem. But often it's also caused by low iron/anemia.

OMG I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. Like...exact same problem. I just had some blood work done to see if my iron was low, etc. and so Im waiting on a phone call and hopefully a miracle because I dread getting into the shower these days :( Goodluck!

I hear ya. I'm sorry this is happening. It does suck.

This happened about five months after I had my son 3 1/2 years ago. I was freaking out. My hairdresser, who I love, suggested using a product called Nioxin. It is a shampoo, conditioner, and foam product that is for "Noticeably Thinning Hair".

The shampoo is meant to stimulate the scalp and clean up your hair shafts. Whatever that means. When using the shampoo you are supposed to really focus on rubbing it onto your scalp. The first few times you do this you should feel a tingling on your scalp and it also might be a little red. I used it for about two weeks....the shampoo, conditioner, foam (like mousse). I have to say it totally worked. I kind of felt like I had an exfoliating kind of treatment. I was so happy not to be pulling clumps of hair out of the drain and off of my brush.

Now, six months after I sadly lost my precious twin boys, I am losing my hair again. Talk about adding insult to injury. I had so much of the Nioxin left that I pulled it out again and have begun to use it. Admittedly, I forget most days, but I am trying to be diligent and this post will hopefully get me back on track.

I purchased my Nioxin from my hairdresser for $40 for all three products. I have seen it sold at Target, CVS, Walgreens.....

Please don't think I am trying to sell this!!!! It is just something that worked for me and thought it was the right thing to do to share the info.

I also encourage my darling husband with thinning hair to use this as well. God bless him....he actually does. What a sweetheart.

I also 100% agree to getting your thyroid checked out as well. That tricky thyroid is the cause of so many problems for us gals. It is an excellent suggestion from A.L.

Good luck and I hope you find and answer.

Peace.

Have your doctor run blood tests and check your thyroid, etc. And try 5000mg of Biotin. That's what I use and my hair has grown back. Good luck!

Stress can also cause hair loss. Sometimes it takes 3-6months from an extremely stressful event. Good luck.

Try biotin supplements! They helped me big time. They sell bottles of them at GNC. Good luck!

As many have mentioned, it is likely your thyroid. If you want to check it at home without having to call the doctor, you can. For 3-5 days in a row, before you get out of bed in the morning, take your temperature under your arm pit. If it is below 97 degrees, your thyroid is underactive. I have had the same problem with a low thyroid, but my hair has not fallen out. I've chosen a natural approach to treating it. Right now, I'm taking Korean Ginseng. If you go to the doctor, they will likely put you on Synthroid. Again, there are natural alternatives like herbs or armour thyroid. If I were you, I'd consider consulting a nutritionist. Goto your Obgyn. Have blood work drawn...may have to do with your thyroid. My thyroid was all thrown out of wack after my 2nd...I suffer from the same thing and am on meds. Good luck!

I'm having the same problem and I'm only 36. I have noticed that since I started taking a daily vitamin on a regular basis that it seems to have slowed down. Other than that I don't have any advice.

Check your thyroid. You could be low in iodine and potassium.

While you are looking for a medical based reason use Nexium hair care system to restore lost hair. My mother lost hair after her gastric bypass and used this to restore her lost hair ... she said she knew it was working because she had tons of zit like bumps on her scalp that was the hair folicle pushing thru with new hair. You can get it at places like Ulta or some salons carry it. She got the suggestion from a cancer survivor apparently that is what they use after chemo.

I'm 48 and my hair has gotten much thinner these past 5 years. So for me it was aging (I've had the blood tests). Fortunately I had pretty thick hair to begin with but I see lot's of women my age with thinning hair. You are young so you might want to see your doc.

Have your thyroid checked. It's a blood test. Low thyroid can cause thinning hair.

Also read up on alopecia. It won't be pleasant, but you should be informed. Hopefully it's the thyroid.
