ok this is kinda gross but i have a 3 1/2 year old boy and for the past 3 weeks or so his poop has a really odd smell. and i don't mean like a poopie smell but it smells almost sour, like that strong make your eyes burn cat urine kinda sour. he came down with the stomach flu this week, but other than that he's been fine. should i be worried, bring it up to the doc, or am i just being weird? any advice would be appreciated. thanks!

I wouldn't worry about it. Poo smells can change with illness, things they have eaten, for just about any reason. I would suggest giving him yogurt with live cultures to help regain balance in his bowels and then not worry about it. Good luck!
I own a diaper service, and trust me, poop smells like different things all the time! I have clients that their babies poo smells like fish, and others that smell like flowers (I am assuming that is still breastfed poo) - and my daughter's smells like mothballs sometimes. I called the doctor because I was worried about her and he told me that poo will smell differently depending on what they ate, if they were sick, taking meds, etc. So unless he has other symptoms, don't fret! :)
getting rid of the toxins, meds
I stir acidophilus into my daughter's yogurt almost every day. Just open up the capsule and dump it in. I do 2 if her poop is especially acidic.

you might try asking your pediatrician, but sometimes it could be what he is eating? good luck...
Google it. If you're still concerned after doing some research, call the pediatrician.
same....yogurt, pro-biotic and it does nt hurt to call If you are worried abt it that is what you pay them for right ?
I wouldn't worry about it too much, but keep an eye (and nose) on it. Mention it to your pediatrician if it continues on for a long time. But think about anything new to his diet. I know there are some foods that make my kids smell differently. I remember freaking out once when my daughter's poop turned a weird shade of blueish green, before realizing it was the Trix yogurt she had eaten. It may have been the beginning of the stomach bug he had, those bugs can really effect their bms for awhile before they get back to normal.
I would second the yogurt with live cultures suggestion. Pro-biotics to help get your little ones tummy back in order after a sickness. It's especially good after they have had eaten antibiotics as this often takes away the good bacteria as well.
