In light of my recent craziness, I decided to focus on other things. Mainly cooking for our x-mas dinner. Before I went mostly veggie food, I cooked a mean dip! I was asked to bring my favorite dip this year, and so I am starting on it today. Actually I am experimenting with somethings. I realized I HATE the smell of frying meat. In particular beef. It stinks I have decided today its my least favorite smell in the world besides farts and poop.
We all know that stinks.
Let me know weird smells that bother you or make you ill
DVMMOM: ACK! I know those smells to well. I worked for a Humane Society for 7 years, way before rules were so strict. I was the acting vet/tech at the time and did triage in the field when I was a Abuse/Neglect officer. I kinda forgot about the horder house smells but that fell in the category of poop and farts so I left it out.

And cheap perfume.
Worse still, teenagers wearing cheap perfume.
Diesel trucks, including school buses. If I get behind one sometimes I'll actually pull over and let some time go by, I cannot take the fumes.

I was a vet tech for 15 years - you get used to excretory odors. Excretory smells from healthy animals don't bother me. But the feces from an animal infected with parvo, coccidia or giardia will make me gag down to my toenails.

I can't stand :
Meat, any kind of meat cooking
the super strong smell of garlic, onions
over ripe bananas--
sour cream
coffee/mochas/cappucino etc.
Heavy purfume--
B.O (body odor) that is one of the worst!
Cigarette/cigar smoke and smell--
cigarette breath
I am currently pregnant so these smells bother me especially when I am pregnant. But when I am not pregnant, they bother me as well. I have a super sensitive nose and tummy---certain smells can give me a migraine or make me physically ill.

Any kind of vomit - except for dogs that we have induced vomiting in because they have just eaten chocolate or sugarless gum (both are toxic to dogs) - then it actually smells kinda yummy!
My husband after an evening out of smoking cigars with his buddies - his breath, his clothes, everything. I swear, it oozes from every pore!
But as a veterinarian, you might not want to know about some of the really nasty, foul, putrid smells I encounter on a regular basis! Especially puppies sick with parvo virus and the bloody blow-out diarrhea they have, any kind of tissue infection (abscesses, really bad ear and dental infections, etc.), and wounds infested with maggots. I've got a pretty strong stomach but there have been some things that have almost made me lose it!

Olives - the smell makes me gag EVERY time. Acually we had friends over the other day and we had a bunch of appetizers going, I took these chicken apps out of the oven and was complaining of this horrible, stomach turning smell in my kitchen. Then I read the box and saw that one of them was a mediterannian thing and I automatically went ok there must be olives in there. Then my pregnancy brain kicked in and I proceeded to dive into the plate without a second thought and took a huge bite of one of the ones with olives - Boom I was in the bathroom so fast - My guests said they have never seen a pregnant girl move that fast.

A lot of 'foreign' odors bother me these days. Like when I took my car in for service and was given a rental. I could not stand the smell of that vehicle's air freshner. It actually bothered my allegies to the point that I checked under the seats to see if I could find the odor. I was glad to get my van back.
Cigarette smell on people's clothing in the store. I swear some people must smoke in a confined space because their clothes wreak.
Alcohol wreaking out of people's pores after a night out. This can also be said when people have too much garlic.
I once bought turkey burgers and did not like the smell of them cooking which colored my opinion of their taste.
Looks like I could go on and on!

Sauerkraut! I can't stand the smell. Oh, and tuna. Both will make me instantly vomit. My husband loves both of them, and is only allowed to make either one when I am not home, and it's a nice, windy day so all the windows can be opened to get the stink out before I am home.

Coffee!!! I HATE the smell. I have memories of waking as a child with an empty stomach to coffee smell. For whatever reason, it made me want to vomit. Every time I smell coffee, I think of that. Thank goodness, my husband isn't a coffee drinker. I can't imagine having to smell that every day!!
Cigarette smoke is another. I am actually very sensitive to it and get ill around cigarette smoke.

So before about 6 months ago I would have said black licorice and cigarette smoke. However, we have an elderly dog who has tumors that the vet can't remove on his leg and he wouldn't survive amputation. Long story short...the poor thing has gangrene because the blood couldn't supply the area and the tissue died- worst smell ever!!! I unfortunately smell it daily when I change the bandage and clean his leg.
