My boyfriend will be graduating with his Master's degree in economics this December. I want to get him something really special, but I am at a loss right now. He's not the plaque/engraved desk set type of person, and everything I've searched for online seems to be along those lines. I thought about maybe doing a trip to a ski resort as he loves to snowboard and ski, and turning that into a graduation/Christmas gift combined, but I just don't know. I feel overwhelmed in just looking at that, mostly because I've never gone skiing before so I don't know what I'm looking for. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

Why not plan a trip for the both of you? Someplace you both have never been and create some memories. Pick a city and just go and enjoy!

What will he be doing with his degree and what are some of his other interests? My husband is really into watches and likes porsches and we found a porsche watch.
It all depends on his expectations, how long you have been together, and his other interests. If he will be teaching, a nice briefcase might work. My husband likes unique/one of a kind things. I googled 'economics graduate gift' and found a site with unique gifts: www.uncommongoods.com They have some unique watches and interesting briefcases.

Does he even expect an "expensive" type grad gift??? If not... then no worries.
Maybe ask him what he would like????

When my husband graduated from medical school I got him a frame like this for his diploma: http://www.diplomadisplay.com/g/framedetails.aspx
(I'm not necessarily endorsing this specific site; you can do a search for "university diploma frame" and get lots of options)
and suggested that his parents get him this chair: http://www.gradchairs.com/ because he had always admired the one my grandfather had.
These are both keepsake-type presents that honor his accomplishment and are things he may be able to use in an office someday.
