Hi Ladies, I'm a person that always just did what ever came around into my life. Living everyday just to get through. I never knew what I wanted to do for a career, so I just got a job as a custodian, working at night. I still tried to go to school and said "maybe i'll do this or be that", but I never followed through, like something was holding me back. Time moved on and that night, short time job became a 8 year long job. In that time, I got married to my boyfriend of 4 years. Two years later I had a daughter and thats when it hit me, that my daughter was going to grow up with a what if? mom. So I thought of my biggest what if and came up with, What if I could have been an actress?. But no, I could never be an actress because I always was to affraid to audition, and to even think that I could even have a non-speaking part in a commercial. I don't what to look back and say, what if? So I signed up for a commercial acting class. Should I even try? or just be happy with my life the way it is now. Don't get me wrong my home life is great, but i'm a wife for my husband, a mother for my daughter, a friend for others, but what eh I for myself? Confused, selfish, or just a dreamer. Need your opinion.

What can I do next?

If thats what you want to do then do it. Its hard for me to work full time and completely be there for my daughter. I was able to find a career working part time as a financial advisor. This is my step toward being financially free so I can go for my dream as well. I want to be a social worker for children and eventually open up my own non-profit organization to help women and children. It just takes one step at a time.

Never deny yourself the emotions of going after a dream. Whether you succeed or not...you tried. You will always have that. When you're 80 and sitting in your rocking chair with your husband beside you, your daughter and her family, etc...you'll be able to look back and smile at the memory of this class and what all it brought you or remember all the amazing parts you played because you followed your dream.

Good luck!!!!

I think it's great to follow your dreams, as long as your husband is in agreement, and you don't neglect any previous commitments or your child's needs. If so, have fun!

Hi C.. I can totally relate. It hard to be "everything" to "everybody". Don't give up on your dreams though. I loved to read all the advice of the other moms. Remember if Mom is not happy, then baby (child) is not happy. You need to find yourself too and it is not being selfish. I found a way where I could own my own business and fulfill my dreams while still taking care of my daughter. If you are interested, feel free to email me back and I can tell you more ____@____.com care and good luck in your search!

C.,

I second the words Alexandra so eloquently shared. GO FOR IT!! There is nothing worse than to look back over your years and regret that you did not follow your dreams... Live! and live well. There are no rules that say you cannot love and care for your family AND follow your dreams. Love yourself, celebrate you and your life, and God will bless you as you bless others.

Alexandra... you go girl!!!

C., so...how's the commerical acting going? Just read your post and can TOTALLY relate. I'm thirty-something with a pre-teen and don't want to regret not pursuing my passions, so I'm asking God to help me be creative in how I pursue my passions. I hope you are feeling fulfilled and passionate about realizing your dream.

I believe you should NEVER settle when it comes to your happiness. I also don't think being a "dreamer" is a negative thing. If you're truly passionate about something, it makes sense that it starts out with a dream. Then you have to be willing to work hard to make it happen. There are many different avenues you could take with acting, as far as what will fulfill you, and you won't know until you work to find out. I think that's great to sign up for classes. I say, continue to be proactive and don't ever feel guilty for taking some "me" time.

Hi C.

Character, I think, is one of the most important traits you can pass on to your kids. Are you a good person or not. Do you do the right thing, even when no one is looking? What you do for a job or career doesn't mean youre the best example for your kids...it may teach them good work ethics...but not necessarily character!

I say, be a great mom to your little girl! Love her and cherish her! Find something that YOU LOVE to do, and THAT will come across as something positive to her.

When you step outside your comfort zone...you will be amazed on what you can accomplish!
