can anyone recommend a nice godparents gift? i don't have to have something religious, but something nice.

Gift certificate to a restaurant with a really nice card and a framed picture of your child. My sister and BIL loved it when they got a little "thank you" after my son's Baptism. They hosted the party at their home after and put a lot of time and effort into making the whole day really special and all about the baby, so we wanted to do something that was "all about them"!
A crystal picture frame.
What about a nice fram (maybe one w/ a cross or that say godparents) and give them a picture of their godchild either alone or with them to put in it.
We engraved picture frames and put a picture of each godparent with our son in them. Over time, they update the picture of them with their godchild. It doesn't have to something overly expensive to say thank you. It is nice to recognize their new role though:-)
I think a framed photo of baby and Godparents is appropriate. I have 2 Godchildren and have 2 children of my own w/ Godparents and haven't done anything more elaborate than that. The honor of being chosen to be a Godparent was gift enough for me!
Oh no, you're suppose to give gifts to the godparents?!?! Opps, we've baptized both our daughters and I didn't know I was suppose to give gifts to the godparents! I paid for my sister's airplane tix (she was godmother #1) so I guess that covers that...
As suggested below, I think a nice photo frame, and you could periodically send recent pictures of the child would be nice.
