I think the best gift I have recieved is a photo taken at the baptism of me and my godchild. The parents gave it to me framed the following week.
Good luck.
My son't baptism is coming up soon, and I'm running into obstacles finding something to get his godparents. I don't want to get something ultra-religious because we (my husband and I) aren't really. An order I placed won't be in on time, so I'm back to square 1. Any ideas?

Hi,
Don't know if your godparents are a couple or separate people. Our are separate people. We gave her a glass monogrammed bud vase with a white rose (innocence) and we gave him a monogrammed business card holder with the childs name and dob inside it is SS. Things remembered has a web site and usually at most malls so you wouldn't have to go to specialty shops. Just as nice a tree for them to plant and watch grow with him.
For my son's baptism, we gave gifts that we would give on any other occasion. My brother is really into poker so I gave him a poker game picture frame. And my cousin, I gave a small purse and matching photo album. It was more personal because the gifts were individualized.
If you have a picture of the Godfather holding the baby, then get a Godfather frame and put the picture of your son and him in it, and do the same for the Godmother. Those make great gifts and they are reasonably priced. Have fun.
Why baptize your child if you are not Christian or "ultra religious" as you put it? It seems like a waste of everyones time. I would think more about your reasons for wanting baptism for your child and not so much on the gift for the godparents. It's more than a reason to have a party and give a gift.
We gave the usual picture frames with pictures, but I also went to local Gift and Bible store and got them pocket coins that had Godparent on them with a verse on the flip side. If put in with their change and such it is just a daily reminder of how special they are to us, and they really loved them. Godfather says when he is having a bad day he just pulls it out and reads the verse.
Good luck-
C.
I got my sons godmothers lockets with their pictures in it and I got the godfathers each a nice watch with a small message engraved into the back. These gifts went over well and others I know have used this idea since! It's very personal yet very practical and not very religious at the same time.
I did not give anything that was religious whatsoever. I gave them each a gift relating to something that pertained to their interests. We are a religious family and go to church together and all of that, but I wanted to make sure that they could actually get use out of what I gave them in return for their time and support.
There is a great little Catholic Bookstore in Lake Orion.
Before my daughter's baptism, I took a picture of her in her gown and I put it in a godparent picture frame that I got at the Catholic Bookstore. Then I wrote them a nice thank you. I didn’t spend a lot of money on the gifts.
They also have cards and other little gifts - the lady that runs it is very helpful and nice.

My sister is my son's godmother, and actually, what she gave him would be a nice idea to give to a godmother. She gave me a beautiful handmade hankerchief to carry, to wipe my tears, and also so that I can use it to wipe my tears of joy at all of his big events (even his wedding). She gave him a pocketwatch engraved with the date of the balptism, again so that he can carry it for all of his special moments. I wish I had thought of these, they would have made great gifts for the godparents too!!!
Hello and how are you? I'm not really that good with gifts ideas but I don't think your son's Godparents are expecting anything from you so don't beat yourself up because you don't have anything. My suggestion is maybe taking them both out to dinner or maybe even cooking them a nice meal for excepting your offer for being your sons Godparents. Hope I was some help. Good luck with the new baby!!!
We did silver picture frames that you can get at Things Remembered and have engraved with the babies name and the date of the baptism and put a picture in it with the baby and the godparents
Our son was baptized last weekend and we were in the same boat as you are where gifts were concerned. We ended up giving each god parent a framed photo of him/her with our son, and we also gave each of them a gift card to a restaurant we knew they liked. They loved the photos and were very thankful for the gift cards. Hope this helps!
My son was baptised about 3 month ago. I was having a hard time like you but I went to Things Remembered in the mall and got them a picture frame, they have all different designs and sayings for christenings. They can finish them in a couple hours.
Write an IOU, be sure to take pictures, but take several of the Godparents with your son before or after the service, and than develop the best photo into a 5x7 or 8x10 and frame it. Most close friends or family and Godparents would love it, I think.
Congratulations!
Maybe a nice picture frame where you could insert a picture of your little one with his godparents????
Well this is what we did. We had a picture taken of them with my son not too long after he was born, I got it enlarged and put it in a really nice frame with 2 places for pictures, I gave it to them with a note that there will be another picture coming for the otherside. I then took another picture on the day of the baptism with them and my son and put it on the otherside of the frame. It made a really nice gift. They loved it. Very personal and unique.
I found godmother and godfather picture frames at the hallmark store.that way they can put a picture of them with your son on that day in it!i also gave gift certifcate to a resturant with it!
