Hello! My sister in law is finishing up her Masters Degree this month and is throwing herself a party in a couple weeks. My husband feels that we should probably get her a little something but we can't decide what that should be. We are tight on money so it can't be something too expensive. What would you suggest?

Thanks!

So What Happened?

OK. Long story but we ended up getting her $65 worth of baby back ribs. What every girl wants, right?! ;)

It depends on her degree. When my sister graduated from law school I got her a really nice necklace that had a charm of the law school scales of justice. So maybe find out if her school/subject area has a crest and then get her a piece of jewelry.

You could also take a picture of her and then 'frame' the picture and her diploma. We also did that for my sisters graduation - we took a pic with her in her robe and then have a frame with 3 4x6 pic spaces that show a miniturized copy of her law school degree, the picture of her in her robe and the ticket we had to have to get into the cerermony. It turned out really nice and it didn't cost very much money. She still has it up in her hallway.

How about a bookstore gift card (so she can read for fun instead of for school) and a nice card? Or even a gift certificate to nail salon or restaurant to "treat" herself to something nice for all her hard work. You don't need to spend more than $25.

if she is like most girls she likes to relax & hasn't been able to in awhile, i know with being in school it's hard to find time for yourself, if she has kids i would offer to sit for an evening or even overnight to give her a break or if not make her a basket with bubble baths & candles & lotions, my local dollar store has tons of this stuff for cheap & girls always like it

Hi there! You can always get her a gift i.e., an accessory that may suit her style. Perhaps a custom set of handmade washcloths from my store http://www.etsy.com/listing/24931790/fluffy-pink-handknit... or a gorgeous scarf http://www.etsy.com/listing/48940465/knit-lariat-bloom-in... or a nice handbag will suit her style and get her ready for her new career http://www.etsy.com/listing/43471064/lavender-greens-hand... ! I have different price ranges to fit any budget, so give my online store a try. http://www.yarncoture.etsy.com

Best regards,
M. :)

How nice of you to get her something! I was given cards and congrats when I finished mine.

What I think is nice is, a picture frame for your graduation photo. It's a personal pinacle event and a photo reminder is great.

Are you crafty? Perhaps you could make her something? Perhaps a mini scrapbook documenting her journey?
