I am having the same problem with my 18 month old daughter. We had to take her out of her crib because she would climb out of it and just fall to the floor. We have tile flooring so I was so afraid that she would hurt herself. She didnt learn after the first two times. So I either rock her to sleep at night and put her in her bed, or I lay down with her in my bed. The thing is when she wakes up she wont stay in her bed. She wants in my bed. She sleeps so much better in my bed. I want my own bed back though. I understand how you feel. If you get any great advice please pass it along. I know my daughter is a little bit younger than yours but any advice always helps. Good luck.

You should just begin putting him back in bed. Give him a hug and a kiss and explain that everobe sleeps in their bed. Maybe read to him in his bed for half an hour prior to bedtime. He will probably throw his fit, but if you give in it will never end. As he's crying you can go in and console him after 5 minutes if he's still screaming. After consoling him the first time, I would wait at least 30 minutes before going in again..you don't want to train him to scream to get mommy back in the room. When you console him, make him stay in bed. Good luck!

Yeah, mommy & daddy's bed is soooo much more cozy & warm. We had the same issue with ours - 2 & 4 year olds. We established a bedtime routine and stuck to it...we do our part by being consistent as possible. Our routine looks like this: bath time, get PJs on and play a little with mommy & daddy (not too exciting), read a story, say prayers & have milk. Then we set the stereo to play the same soothing music for 30 minutes every nite. If they want a book to take to bed, it is allowed. But no excessive talking, jumping in bed, or getting out of bed. Sometimes, we only have time for a prayer & music, but the rules are the same every night unless a kid is sick. NO other exceptions, because they will expect it every night and you have to start over. At first, I stayed in their room and enforced the rules. After a few nights, I was able to kiss them goodnight without them breaking the rules. This has worked for us and I am getting my rest again! Hopefully, you will find what works for your family as well.

We had the exact same problem ub=ntil someone suggested the good nite lite (www.goodnitelite.com). It is programmable to have a moon when it is time for bed and a sun when it is time to get up. It worked from the very first night! Good luck!

What worked for us was for one of us to lay with our children in THEIR bed, until they fell asleep. Gradually they got used to being in their bed, and could eventually fall asleep alone. I used to sing songs to my son until he fell asleep. He is 11 and once in a while, he asks me to lay down with him and sing songs. Enjoy them while they are young...it is gone all too soon. :)
