How long after giving birth was it before you got your first period? How fertile are you and how soon can you conceive after giving birth? My baby is 7 weeks old. We have not been using any form of birth control and I am not breastfeeding. We have been having sex very often for the last month. Could I be pregnant?
Well, the short answer is of course you can! You are quite fertile after having a baby actually, some say it is the best time to get pregnant again. Esp if you have struggled to get pregnant in the past, I have several friends who have had this happen "accidentally" You'd better get some form of birth control, once you know that you are not pregnant yet...unless of course, you want to have another baby this quickly! lets do the math 1st you just had a baby 7 wks ago starting have sex 4wks ago(a month)so 2wks after you had the baby. I have always been told that you should wait atleast until your 6wks checkup just to give your body time to heal and to make sure its ok. But yes you can get pregnant so unless you are trying to conceive again you should use some sort of birth control. I've always started my period about 5 wks after having my babies unless I breastfeed then its taken longer.
YES you can get pregnant very quickly after having a baby. I would know I have a son who just turned 1 and a 5 week old so do the math there. If you are not prepared to have babies that close get some birth control and fast.
I guess technically you COULD get pregnant. I'd talk to the dr about some birth control if you aren't ready for another one yet. :)
