Frustrations with Buying Jeans!!!

I recently bought a few pairs of So brand jeans at Kohl's and had them hemmed so they didn't drag the floor. I do not know what sizes they offer, but you might try Kohl's in general.

I realize that on WNTW they often told people to go to a tailor, but there are only so many times I want to pay another $15-20 for a pair of jeans, depending on the alterations. I don't know what 5'4" and under women these designers are designing for, but it's not any short lady I know!

Oh, and if you loved a style that's not sold, try thrift stores and consignment stores. They may have them.

No - but NYDJ (Not Your Daughter's Jeans) area great fit and accomodate my tummy without being baggy elsewhere. they're pricey but there's an outlet store not too far from me and I can get jean for $30 if I hit it right. At Macy's they retail for $85 - $120. Would never spend that much!

If your budget will handle it, try Eddie Bauer jeans. They make a curvy and a slightly curvy cut with varying leg styles. I'm on the border between regular and plus sizes, with a generous rear, muscular legs, and proportionally smaller waist, and I've lived in their jeans for the last few years. The curvy jeans have a waist size one size smaller than the rest measurements of the jeans.

Also, you might give Lane Bryant a try. They sell jeans in three different cuts according to body type, not just different sizes.

My mom loves Not Your Daughter's jeans. I find them too high-waisted (and rather high priced), but they look great on her. She also has a proportionally smaller waist, but generous hips, and they fit her very well.

Lucky jeans are more forgiving, but still stylish.
Gap also has (or had) several different cuts for different body types.

Have you tried Dockers jeans?
Straight legs from the hip down.

I've always liked Levi's Boot Cut jeans--through all of my sizes! Lol

On the show "what not to wear" I heard them say that they can not understand where women got the idea that jeans do not need to be tailored. I have never had jeans tailored but you may want to consider it. Buy jeans that fit in your leg and get the waist taken in.

i have a "round/bubble" butt, i find jeans at Kohls, Wall Flower brand they have a "Curvy" line that has more fabric in the back. they fit me baggy in the legs, but i don't have big legs

You are looking for wide leg, or trouser style jeans.
Most brands carry that cut, you just have to search for them since they are not in right now.

I would go a google search on that style and see what comes up in your price range.

Another vote for Eddie Bauer jeans. I'm a size 8 but very curvy. They have two types of curvy fits, too. One that's mild curvy and another for those with a very small waist but big hips and thighs, like me. Their jeans fit me perfectly. I don't even have to get them altered in the waist!

Just a note that our local EB store doesn't carry the curvy fit. I just took a leap of faith and ordered them online and lucked out that they fit me. Usually, finding jeans that fit can take me a full shopping trip and I usually go home with nothing.

welcome to my world! i am 5' 4" 145lbs with a bubble butt like no other :) and as i call them thunder thighs. Finding jeans that fit for me are literally impossible. I end up with pants too tight in the legs or a huge gap in the back. It takes me hours before i find 1 pair that will fit.

I have found low rider pants that fit the best, as they sit below my waist line. I found them in the young girls section. Women's pants sit too high and i hate that look. the jeans have to have a stretchy material, otherwise i can't wear them. I am not a fan of the muffin top approach as i have always had a small pouch even before my son. So finding pants that sit below that work best. I find myself at Kohls. As they have the pants there i like. Not sure anymore, as i can't afford a new pair of jeans to save myself right now. So i go without new stuff for years.

Good luck hun! clothing should be made custom to fit...we all would have clothes that fit ME individually. In a perfect world. lol.

I have a big butt, and a smallish waste and have the same problem.

I bought a pair of jeans once, on clearance, that were AMAZING. I forgot their name, but seeing the post below me has made me think that was the name...hmmm...I'm gonna have to check into that.

Beyond that, I haven't really found anything. Lane Bryant makes some for different shapes, I do sorda like the ones from there, but even then they still aren't 'right'.

I like Joe's Jeans HONEY style. it's for the curvy girl.. you ll pay up, but the jeans are well made and stay looking nice, even after several washings.. I have had a couple pairs for years and the dye hasn't faded like a traditional pair of jeans might...

I wear jeans from Lane Bryant and they are the most comfortable jeans I have ever had. They have different fits for different shapes and start at size 14 and go up. They are also very stylish not typical "Mom" jeans. I have had a couple of comments from other people that they look good on me or make me look a little thinner. With coupons and other offers you can usually get a decent deal. My only complaint is that they don't carry petite length in the store most of the time. Good Luck!

I was always an hourglass and loved Express jeans! After having my baby, I discovered NYDJ, and I love them! Jeans and skirts. I can't tell you how to address the full legs, but they might be able to accommodate that.
