Foam Alphabet / Number Squares/"rug"

Hi Moms!
Just a quick silly question....We just got those very brightly colored alphabet/number foam squares that can be hooked together like puzzle pieces to form a kind of "rug" - we're using them outside on our cement porch (somewhat covered). My husband wants to leave them outside rain or shine, but I'm concerned that they'll be ruined after a few rainy days......has anyone else used these for outdoor use? Would you suggest picking them up EVERY time rain is forecasted? Thanks!

What can I do next?

No answer to your question, but where can I get those? I would use that right about now.

The rain isnt the problem. It's the sunshine. It bleaches them very quickly. We left one on the back porch and in just one day it was shades lighter than the rest.

We used them outside under our toddlers little plastic slide as he had a tendency to lose footing and fall off the side (not a huge drop obviously). I found that they faded SUPER quick despite the huge tree that shaded our deck. The only problem I found was that water collected under them and some slimy film would form so whenever we'd pick them up, we'd have to hose the squares off as well as the deck. They also started leaving perfect squares on our deck as it faded but new stain fixed that.

my kid barfed all over his inside and we had to wash them off. The foam is sealed--no pores to worry about but I suspect this would degrade over time in the elements.

Mine got crummy pretty fast, kept inside! I'd bring them in.

Yeah, they won't last very long outside. The pieces will get gross and faded.
