Fingernail Polish

My daughter was painting her fingernails in my bedroom and accidentally spilled bright fushia polish on my light tan berber carpet. She didn't tell me that it happened and threw a blanket over the spill. Later when I found it the polish had already dried. I tried fingernail polish remover and it did take some of it up but not much. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas to remove the rest.

What can I do next?

I have used Simple Green and it has worked well on nail polish a vinegar water solution should also take it up.

This sounds like an opportunity to emphasize the importance of telling you the truth in a timely manner. I'd have the daughter help with the cleanup too.

You could try checking the polish manufacturer's web site and FAQs for cleanup suggestions. Another place to check would be with carpet manufacturers and cleaners. It may require expert cleaning or patching.

I got this hit from Michigan State University Extension:
Nail Polish- Stain Removal on Carpet and Upholstery
1. Apply nail polish remover (acetone). Blot.
2. Mix one teaspoon of a neutral detergent (a mild
detergent containing no alkalies or bleaches) with a cup
of luke-warm water. Blot.
3. Sponge with clean water. Blot.

This one seemed to have ideas too:

Good luck

I just googled it on the internet and read some testimonies that both vinegar and glass/window cleaner (separately) work well to take nail polish out of carpet.

A vinegar/water solution should take it out.
