Nail Polish in Carpet

Have you tried nail polish remover? Take the nail polish remover and dab into the area with a rag and scrub as well.Continue the process and it should come up.

Try Windex...it did the trick for me when my daughter spilled bright pink nail polish on our carpet.

Try some acetone (nail polish remover). You have to make sure it is the nail polish remover WITH acetone... many are made without.

I have never tried it on carpet, but my 22-month-old seems to figure out how to get into my nail polish wherever I hide it, and I've had to get nail polish of all colors out of several little outfits! It makes the stain disappear!

SD-20...It is industrial strength so you will either have to buy on the internet or research to find it some place nearby. Spray it on the carpet, cover the carpet with saran wrap and a very heavy book or similar object and wait a few hours. Blot and repeat. You will have to do this several times, but my son spilled red nail polish on my mother-in-law's white carpet and it got it all up. Before using the SD-20, I had quite a bit of luck with Spot Shot using the same technique; however, be careful if you decide to use nail polish remover. I think some removers can damage your carpet...good luck! :-)

Been there!!! I immediately poured nail polish remover on the polish. It worked. Then I started realizing I might have also taken the color out of the carpet. OOOOPPPSSSS....
Luckily, it didn't.
But I would test your carpet in an out of the spot to see if it is colorfast. Depending on the size of the polish, you just use a Q Tip or a cotton ball and carefully blot the stain. Don't rub or you will spread it around.

This happened to me when some girls came to sleepover. Dark polish on my almost white carpet. I used the full strength 100% acetone polish remover and BLOT. It worked and you can't tell there was a spill

Slowly, and carefully try the nail polish remover. But it's not easy. Don't saturate your carpet, use a white terri cloth towel and slowly work at it. Don't scrub, or you'll breakdown your carpet fibers. I own a carpet cleaning company and we've been able to remove red nail polish from carpet. But it takes a long time and we use professional strength removers. So let me know if you need help. A patch (or cutting the carpet previously suggested) is a last resort. Which we can do those as well and in some cases you can't tell there is a patch there. Good luck.

My daughter did the same thing on white carpet. I use a carpet stain remover and then zout. I let it soak into the carpet for about 10 minutes and then dabbed it up.

Solumel from Melaleuca will take it out and it is toxin free so you won't be breathing the fumes from nail polish remover.

Be very careful with nail polish remover -- it can delaminate the carpet (pull the backing away from the carpet). Also - be careful with Windex -- especially the colored variety -- I have had customers use blue Windex and it stains their carpet blue. Also - be careful trying too many different things can cause a pH imbalance in your carpet and change it odd colors. hi mom, if you find a solution please email me. my son spilt, nail polish, lip stick, coolaid and magic marker-different spots on my carpet. i have tried everything but dying the spots with the same color as the carpet. thank you W. d. i am a stay at home mom who is now sort of lonely because my youngest boy is in kindergarten-but am more relaxed for 7 hours during the day. (lol)
