So What Happened?

I'm pretty sure that it is stained for now. Great! I dont have any spot shot but I will get some tomorrow (Hubby has car) and hopefully that will work. I googled it and it said try, nail polish remover, hair spray, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, but none of that is working. I even tried a Magic Eraser for kicks. Nope.. Not what I needed tonight. Already been the worst day. Hope the hubs isnt too mad at me....

When we lived in an apartment we got brown hair coloring dye on the carpet the week before we moved out. So then we tried lots of ideas we found on the internet with no luck. Finally we gave up and confessed to one of the ladies who works in the office. She contacted a company that they use to shampoo the vacant apartments between tenants anyway they also do color matches and carpet dying.......she said they could take the bill right out of our deposit.......so I was fearing the worst and unbelievable but it was only $35.00 .....so look in your phonebook maybe you can find someone to help?

Call a carpet store in your area and ask their advice.

I would be afraid of trying polish remover as it can eat the fibers of the carpet depending on what it's made of.
I wouldn't try anything else until you get some professional advice.

We had an earthquake and one of my kerosene lamps fell and broke on the carpet. It didn't stain the carpet or disintegrate it. It caused it to buckle and expand so badly that we had to have someone come out and stretch it and take the buckling out of it.
The carpet wasn't even a year old.
It was obviously an accident, but my husband wouldn't let me have kersosene or "lamp oil" lamps in the house anymore.

Best wishes.

We recently had red polish on our beige carpet. The nail polish remover worked wonderfully for us. The key was to keep spraying water on it. Keep it wet. Alternate the remover and water. Good Luck!

Try Spot Shot on an inconspicuous area first. If not damage to color or the carpet, try it on the nail polish spot. Good luck!!

depends on the type of carpet. when I was in high school I spilled red candle wax on my dads almost pure white berber carpet, right in the middle of the floor. I was freaking out, my dad is not one to forgive typically. I called my brother because he was working for a furniture cleaning company and he was the only one who might have even the tinniest of a clue. He told me to take powder laundry detergent and mix it with water to the consistency of a paste and scrub it into the carpt after i got the extra wax off. and it worked!!! there was just a tiny little discoloration but not enough to notice unless you knew it was there. so, dont know if that will work for the nail polish or not. I would think that the nail polish remover will pull the color out of the capet itself, kind of like a bleached look. maybe you can look online at the manufacturers website and see if they have any suggestions.
