I am due in December and will be looking for childcare in Orange Park to start in March of 2009. I was told to start looking now as it can be difficult to find childcare for a newborn.....I had always hoped I could stay at home with him or her but, I will definitely have to go back to work. I would appreciate any ideas or advice you could share.

I do not know which section of Orange Park you live in...I live in Fleming Island. The Fleming Island KinderCare (Off of Bald Eagle Drive/State Rd 220) came very recommended to me. I was part of a mom's club until I had to go back to work full time. Six moms who had quit working to stay home recommended the place to me. They had had their children there while working full time. Also, two of my neighbors use the center for their children. I got onto the waiting list 3 months before I needed it and it was perfect timing. This center is excellent, every age class has excellent women/teachers in charge. They are nurturing yet teach at the same time. I would trust this center with any child's life. It made me feel great going to work knowing that my child was there. As a bonus, my son LOVESit there. He has gained confidence and knowledge, and has lots of friends.

Do not get sticker shock when you join a center, whichever you choose. For full time child care at a learning center it will range between $150-$200+ per week. We pay $173 per week for our 4 year old. When he was in the 1 year old class it was $180(ish) a week. An outside babysitter will cost less per week, and will offer different services...I have been told.

One of the nurses at my pediatrician's office recommended Child Time on Argyle Forest Blvd. She says she's been sending her children there & is very pleased with their quality of care. My husband & I priced them awhile back. I thinkk they run about $150 a week for a newborn.

My daughter attended Gingerbread Learning Center off of Knight Boxx Road. We loved it! They were so wonderful to her there. She is out now, only because I lost my job and am a SAHM now!!!! (very thankful for this) When we left, the newborn rates were $180. Kinda pricy, but worth every penny. They loved on my baby for me and I felt so at ease.

Also, Sugar and Spice off of Moody Road is wonderful as well. I couldn't get her in there because the list was SOOOO long. I went to Sugar and Spice when I was little ( for about 2-3 years). It's VERY hard to get in there. SO, if you are interested, GO NOW!!!!!!!!!!! Get yourself on the list even if you aren't sure about it.

Hope this helps!!
