My son likes egg yolk, is it too much to feed him one yolk a day? I usually feed it to him during breakfast. I am in the process of starting him on table food.

Thanks.

What can I do next?

No! There are great vitamins in egg yolk, it's no harm at all!!!

PS. Eggs get a very pad reputation. If the person consuming them, has high cholesterol and lipid issues, yes...eggs should be moderated. Studies have shown eggs are a great addition to a diet for most people.

Cholesterol, which I'm assuming is your concern here, is necessary for healthy brain development in babies. I would not worry about an egg yolk a day. Eggs, particularly yolks are a great source of vitamins. It's too bad they have a reputation as a "bad" food.

Egg yolks are high in cholesterol - ~75% of the daily allowance for an adult.

I personally would try to regulate it to a few days/week instead of every day. Admittedly, though, I'm not a nutritionist nor a pediatrician, so you might want to call and ask what they think as well.

Our doctor told us one egg a day is fine. That was when my son was 2. Egg yolks are packed with vitamins. They are very good for you!! They do have a little bit of saturated fat, but nothing compared to feeding your child whole milk or steak.

Egg yolk is very nutritious - great your son likes it! I have read to wait until 1yr old and that one a day is just fine...wish my kids would eat it :-)

Ask your Pediatrician...
Sometimes, too much dense protein can overload the kidneys.

How old is your child?
I would definately ask the Pediatrician.

As you can see from previous posts it depends on who you talk to!

Is high cholesterol a problem in your family......hereditary? If not I probably wouldn't worry as long as he is eating other good foods, low in fat, healthy and with soluable fiber.
