Hello C., I have been working with Dr. Karande, with donor eggs, and became pregnant on the first transfer. His associate did the transfer (Dr. Klipstein) since he was out of town at the time. I have a beautiful one year old son. The second transfer didn't take, (by Dr. Karande) but the third did (again, Dr. Klipstein). and I will have another son about Thanksgiving. Dr. Karande required many tests, both times, and I am very healthy. I would like to tell you, that if you use donor eggs, insist that they come from a successful repeat donor. We first started with a first time donor, and after some delays, she quit. When we waited for a suitable donor to become available, passing up one we didn't care for, we ended up paying for the qualifying tests for the donor that quit. We would have objected more, but with such wonderful results, we realized that our son was priceless! We still have five healthy embryos available.
If you want to talk further, you may e-mail me at ____@____.com, and I will give you my phone number. Good luck! M.

I went to him several years ago. I didn't really like him, nor his partner at the time, Dr. Jobanputra (sp). None of the first three doctors I saw were interested at all in finding out why I wasn't getting pregnant, only in pushing complicated and expensive tests and procedures. And their bedside manners were lacking. I finally found Drs. Levin and Hickey at the Hinsdale Center for Reproduction. They really worked at finding out what was wrong (a mix of endometriosis, low thyroid and high prolactin, easily fixed). They were also much more compassionate and their office staff was great. I had had three IVF procedures that failed before going to them (doomed for failure from the beginning because of the lack of insight into my problem) and I got pregnant with my twins while using clomid shortly after adjusting the thyroid and prolactin levels. I went on to have a third daughter pretty much on my own. Dr. Levin is now at Rinehart Center for Reproductive Medicine and Hickey is still at Hinsdale. I had many more interactions with Levin than Hickey, but they were both very capable. Good luck! This is a really hard process, but if you educate and stand up for yourself, hopefully you'll have some happy results soon!

Hi C.,

I have a friend who went to Dr. Klipstein (at Karande's office)and delivered twins. She had a horrible experience with Karande and would never recommend him but really liked Dr. Klipstein. Hope this helps.

Hi C.,

I have not tried Dr. Karande, but I can recommend another great fertility doctor. I have had two successful pregnancies after treatment with Dr. Charles E. Miller who now has an office in Schaumburg on Golf Road. He is such a gentle caring physician with excellent success rates and a wonderful staff. In fact, we are getting ready to start trying for a third with Dr. Miller's help. Best of luck to you!

Hi C.,

I used Dr. Karande for my infertility issues. Unlike another poster said, He DID do many tests to try to determine why I was not getting pregnant. He concluded that my husband and I were in the 10-15% of unexplainable. I tried Clomid, then artificial insemination before trying IVF. I conceived the first time around. He transfered two of my embryos and both implanted. My twins are now 7 yrs. old and healthy, smart and happy.

I feel Dr. Karande is very knowledgeable, yet he does not have that a warm compassionate personality. But... I had my husband console me on days I needed him to. Overall he was a nice man .... just not that warm and fuzzy feeling type that we, as an infertile female, would have wanted. His partner now (Dr. Klipstein) assisted in a surgery to remove 2 large fibroids 4 yrs. ago. I found her to be a warm and caring doctor. I thought about going back to use my frozen embryos and using her. However, my husband never wanted anymore than 2 children.

Good luck to you Carri in your journey to become a mom. I read a in another post that you lost your babies at 19 and a half weeks gestation. My heart really goes out to you.
