L.,
I used Dr Morris for both of my children. I started at age 34 and after 4 IUIs conceived my son and then 9 mos. later it took 4 IUIs and 2 IVF cycles for my daughter over 2 years. I think he is willing to try techniques to jump start the process but he is highly clinical in his approach. He upped my medication and extended the stimulation period much longer than average to give us a better chance to get mature eggs.
We had no known factors and he will be the first one to say your eggs are old and propose a donor.
After an IVF transfer was canceled in '07 due to no embryos passing PGD, we waited 10 mos and tried again. He was honest that our odds weren't good--9% or less.
After PGD, we had 1 embryo out of the 7. It tested inconclusive twice. He offered to re-test it a 3rd time with a new probe and it passed so he delayed our transfer to Day 6 (which I had not heard of) to let it catch up on growth.
With acupuncture and only 1 embryo, we got a positive pregnancy result. I'm sure even he was surprised.
Dr. Morris is all about the odds and statistics which is probably why he has a high success rate. The nurses are wonderful and comforting. He did seem a little more connected the more appointments he had with us but he didn't offer any false hope. He is a scientist.
We chose to do holistic treatments like acupuncture, cleansing and herbs in between our 2 IVF cycles. He didn't support those concepts--he only believes in acupuncture before/after transfers but we did it anyway. We felt as if we'd done everything humanly possible to get our bodies ready for the final IVF.
I wish you the best.
