Can anyone recommend a double stroller sturdy enough to take on hikes on groomed trails etc.? I have twin girls who are about 25 lbs each, peanuts (but this should grow with them, they are nearly 2 so I need it to work about 2 years at which point they are gonna get out and walk!!!)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

OK so I went to Walmart to get a BabyTrend double because the price was just so much less (despite the overwhelming response rate of BOB fans) and they tell me "web only." Shoulda known. On the way home I email three twin Moms I know well to see what they recommend. They all get right back to me, all three of them have Mountain Buggies because they have a swivel front wheel (yeah so what) and fit through a regular door, "unlike the BOB," which I know is not true. They also weigh 4 pounds more and cost $150 more even than the BOB. So ignore my friends and come back to you ladies. Back home, before pulling the trigger on Walmart, I looked up BOBs on Craigslist to find one used, and all I see are like 5 people wanting, nobody selling. So I then conjure up the list of dealers near me and whaddya know, the first one I call (2 miles away) has a 10% off deal on an open box floor model in hunting orange. Normally I don't care about color but this actually puts me over the edge (I consider this a plus for visibility on twisty back roads where we may be going). So I took the plunge, I went for immediate gratification over fiscal prudence, and I hope to be able to sell it when I'm done. It looks like there is a pretty hopping aftermarket for the BOBs. Thank you mamas for your advice.

There seems to be a lot of people that love their BOB's. I agree with the other person that wrote about Phil and Ted's. I have one for my 2 yr old and 2 month old. They are pricey but you can search around the internet for the best price. I got mine on sale and saved 100 bucks. Here a one website that sells the double side by side one and also the single that converts to a double. http://www.barebabies.com/philteds.html

BOB ALL THE WAY! It's sturdy, strong, & navigates super smoothly. Love mine! It's expensive, but its for a reason. You get what you pay for. They're awesome!

I love my Phil and Ted's sport. I can be converted to a single stroller or a double stroller. It's sturdy. Does real well on trails and unpaved grounds. It's 21 pounds, so nice and light weight as well. Check them out. They look confusing, but believe it is the absolute best investment. I have gotten all my friends hooked on them too. LOL

the BOB SUV is awesome - i run with it several days a week on and off road - it is the least expensive of the BOB strollers b/c the front wheel does not pivot (i never take it shopping/etc so this is fine for me)..another plus it can be gate checked at the airport!
REI sells these and twice a year has coupons and sales.
happy trails.

We have the baby trend jogger stroller. I have had no problems with any place we have tried to roll it so far. Grass, woodchips, sand.. I think they make a double one, but not positive. I have heard that the BOB is the best, you might want to try a resale store or Craigs list to get a used one. I see them at play it agian sports as well.

I have a BOB Revolution Duallie and absolutely love it. Yes, it is pricey but for hikes and trails it will be exactly what you want and need. The steering is easy and the ride is smooth. Furthermore, it should be able to fit in the trunk of your car and if it is too wide, the wheels pop off super easy so it will fit.

Everyone told me to get a BOB and I would have except for the price. I ended up getting a Babytrend jogger and love it so far. I have not used it for hiking, I went on sidewalks and a grassy bumpy road while walking the dog.

I have a single BOB, I love it, I take it everywhere! Hiking on rough trails etc... sorry, no experience with the double but I assume they made it just as good as the single. I bought mine used on craigslist because they are pricy!
