Best Stroller for Twins

I have the Maclaren Twin Techno. I love it! It fits through most doorways and folds up so it travels well. We also have a double jogging stroller for off roading and walks through the neighborhood, it is much more lightweight. But I do wish the jogging stroller had a front swivel wheel. I think it would make it much easier. Good luck.

As a mom of 2 1/2 year old twins, I have found that every twin mom has a different answer. We started with 2 strollers and now have just one. We started with the Graco DuoGlider (it is a tandem, so one seat in front and one in back). It was wonderful while the girls were both in infant car seats and was the perfect stroller for shopping and walking on smooth paved surfaces. For the great outdoors, walks on the beach and light hiking trails, we got the Double Urban Mountain Buggy. This stroller is heavy but it literally goes anywhere. It is narrow enough to fit through any standard door, too. So many of the side-by-side all terrain strollers or jog style strollers are too wide for standard doors, so be sure to check the widths before you buy. I really like the front swivel wheels for easy terrain and having the option to lock the wheels in place for rough terrain.

We used the DuoGlider until the girls were about 18 months old. At that point, whomever was in the back would pull the other one's hair and kick her so much that we just couldn't use it anymore. They were MUCH happier sitting side-by-side so we started using the Mountain Buggy exclusively.

I also recommend checking out your local mothers of twins club. All of the spring sales will be coming up in the next month or two and you can get great deals. If you let the officers of your local club know you are looking, you might be able to find a couple of strollers to try out before the sales.

My husband and I have the Kolcraft ContourTandem duo double stroller it is amazing. it has many features that are usefull in everyday use. Some of features are both babies can faxe eachother , face towards you or away ,or one can face you the other away. It has removable seats so if you have only one child with you you can remove one seat and use the understorage more easily. You can also put the both car seats on the stroller by using an adapter(one comes with the stroller when purchased the other is only 30.00). this has saved me so many times when we've gone from car to troller when they wre sleeping. I recommend it highly. I have used it on hiking trails and it has tires that can handle bumps. Check it out. I found that it was very affordable at 200.00 compared to the rest of the double strollers. Oh its a front to back as well side to side is to wide to fit through most doorways. I love this stroller.

After researching and looking at the pros/cons, I recently purchased a Phil and Ted, and I love it. I wish I had more knowledge of strollers before I registered for my Travel System, which has been retired.

I am currently using the P&T as a single, but if/when we decide to have #2, I would just purchase the doubles kit for it. It truly rides really nice and DD is very comfortable in it. It is not a "jogging" stroller, but can be for light jogging. This is neither a side-by-side or a front-and-back, it's more like a top-and-bottom.

When used as a double, it is as wide as a single. The only "bad" thing I can say about it, is the fact that there is no tray for DD, so I will be purchasing an "add-on" for that use.

I am also a mother of twins. When my girls were babies I had a graco duoglider that allowed 2 infants seats to attach to it. It steared great and was the best stroller for those early months when you want the babies to sleep while you're out. I would close the canopy on the infant carrier and the canopy on the stroller which closes them off completely and then they can sleep easier. It also helps a bit when you are tired of constant attention from well meaning fellow shoppers. : )

As great as this stroller was, it took up half the back of my Ford Explorer, so I wanted something more compact when they got older. I then purchased a MacLaren side-by-side stroller which was great. It fits through all standard doors and the seats reclined and had great sun shades. I also had a used double jogging stroller which was great for walks on the road or going to places like fairs. My girls just turned 4 and I am still holding on to the jogging stroller for the fair this year!

My first 2 kids are 20 months apart but we do a lot of walking, we have a dbl jogger, safari TT dbl from instep got from jogging stroller.com. Front wheel swivels or locks in place great for parks, museums, paved and non paved surfaces, beach we take it everywhere, kids sit side by side but is wide enough that my now 4 yr old still fits comfortably. Only drawback is sun canopy doesn't block as well as I'd like. Fairly lightweight and pushes easily w/ 2 kids in it. Definetely one of the best purchases we've made. Hope this is helpful. P.S I have the graco dbl front to back stroller, not a fan for many reasons.

I don't have twins (but I have a LOT of friends with twins)- but being in the baby gear business... I hear this request a LOT!

In general, the front to back strollers are going to be huge... and hard to push... The Peg Aria is tough to push - and the 2008 will be a 60/40 seat to allow for a carseat and a sibling... so that's not a great option. The other two pegs are ok - but I think for the price, there are better options out there.

They are still pretty little, so you still really need a recline. I would concentrate on something that's not for carseats... since in another 5 months or so - they won't be in infant buckets.

A stroller I LOVE recommending right now is the Baby Jogger City Series Mini Double - I use this one myself with my 2 year old and my neice who is also 2. It's a fantastic push... fabulous. Super easy to fold (you just "pick it up" and it folds). It has full recline and fabulous hood coverage for the summer. It does have two accessories that I find usefull for some - the double belly bar - which you can attach a "soft" tray to for sippy's and snacks.... and a parent tray for waterbottle, keys... ect.

It literally can be your only stroller. Now - while it is thin enough for all average doors, it's still a side by side... but it does a good job at providing a large seat for a child to really grow into without being super wide. It's good for 100lbs for the entire stroller (basket included... so that's frame weight total).

If you're on the cape anytime and want to come check it out, feel free! (you can even put them in it and push it around the block! :) )

There are a few others - but this is the most reasonably priced ($349 - but look at my ad... you'll see a discount coupon) - and the lightest/easiest to fold. It's not air tires, but the tires are big and move over most terrain great. It wouldn't be for "trails"... for something like that, you'd want to look at a baby jogger city series elite or a Mountain Buggy or a valco... but again - these are all about $500-600... and it doesn't sound like this is what you're looking for.

the best stroller for twins is the double snap and go by baby trend you click the carseats into the frame of the stroller. (so easy when they are asleep you don't have to wake them up)! We loved this stroller, once they get out of the snap and go I would go for a double side by side JOGGER, or start with a jogger I know many brands of jogger don't allow for the carseats to clip in...... I am a mom of Triplets, and a set of twins plus another one and boy strollers cost alot and they are not in them for long........

Congratulations! You have soooo many peoiple giving you advice about this but I just have to tell you about my favorite. I have twin 22 month old boys. We started with the Graco Duo and it was ok for the first 3-5 months. As they got heaver it became more challenging to steer and turn corners, especially when shopping at the grocery store and trying to push a cart with the stroller. I did quite a bit of homework and probably scared afew strangers asking them if they liked thier strollers. I have what I feel is the BEST stroller out there: the BOB!!! It fits through all doorways, it has a great sun/rain shade, you can now get a bar to put across it and clip on your car seats (new feature), it folds up easily, and most importantly it spins on a dime. If you are on the beach or jogging you can easily lock the front wheel too. I got mine at The Toy Chest in West hartford center. Check out the website. You'll love it.

Its a side by side jogger with swivel wheels that can be locked, 5 point harness, the seats can be laid back flat for babies, & its narrow enough to fit through standard doorways. Here is the website

I have twin 5 year old twin girls. I loved the side by side, mostly because as they got older they fought over who got the front of the tandem stroller. The side by side is fairly wide but the other is twice as long so either way you can't win.

I loved the umbrella stroller, once the girls were older, mostly because it was so easy to open and fold, and not as bulky as the bigger strollers.

feature to look for in a stroller:
cup holder - I hated that I couldnt' push the stroller and drink my coffe at the same time.

Hi! Congratulations on your twins :) I have to tell you that we actually have two strollers and a wagon for our twins. We started out with the Graco Duo Glider and that was fine, but as the boys got older who ever was in the back seat was not happy. Could not see as well, would pull the hair of the one who was in front and kick, ect. Also we had some mobility issues in stores and on trails, though it was pretty good over all, just big. Then we got the Radio Flyer Pathfinder Wagon which I can not reccommend enough! My guys still love it at three. I even use it for grocery shopping at times. They are most happy in it. A lot of families with twins that I know have these. I throw it right in the back of my minivan and take it everywhere. We also have a double jogging stroller. We use this for trails, but I have also used it for shopping, fairs, and just going on walks. We never thought we would need all of these! Never thought we would have twins either :) Good luck on your journey!

as far as the stroller goes i'ld get the front and back one the side by side seem very hard to use in stores and even on sidewalks if they're crowded
i have a graco stroller and it works great on every surface except the beach i even pushed it in mud

I would highly recommend the EasyWalker Stroller. It comes in a side by side but is narrow enough that it maneuvers through a standard doorway. It is VERY lightwieght which you will appreciate when pushing it even if you do not need to lift it often to load in a car. When you do put it in a vehicle it can fold down to relatively compact dimensions for a double stroller. The large rugged tires are great for beaches or any off road terrain. The front tires can swivel for amazing maneuverability but also can be locked for jogging or of road terrain. You can get a car seat adapter for the stroller or you can purchase the bassinets which are very plush and make great portable beds for infants. I could go on and on because I have this stroller and LOVE IT. I have never left the house with it without getting comments from passerbys. Congratulations on your new twins! I am a mom of 8 month old twin boys, and did a good deal of research on the best all-purpose stroller. We went with the Mountain Buggy urban double stroller. It's a side-by-side, but narrow enough to fit through a doorway (even tested at Wrentham Outlets). Very maneuverable with front swivel wheels that can be locked if you're going on a bumpy path. I can't say enough about it...but it's pricey. I justified the expense since we'll be able to use it for a few years.

Congratulations R. on your twins! Mine turned 2 last week - it goes so fast! We used a double snap n go for the first year while they were in infant seats - it was light, easy to maneuver and folded up well. By the end though the baby in the back would kick the car seat in the front so I was glad that we had already gotten a side by side. We graduated them to the Maclaren Twin Rally which I love - great storage, seats recline, 5 point harness for wiggly toddlers, easy to fold and maneuver and fits through all doors (tightly but okay). For trails we have the Chariot Cougar 2 (approx. $400 I think) - you have to take the wheels off to fit in your car but that is not hard. You can also buy attachments to use it as a bike trailer or with skis to pull behind you cross country skiing or snowshoeing so the versatility is amazing. Good luck!

I have the Phil and Teds tandum stroller (you can go on their site to check it out). It's wonderful, it's not side by side or a bus. It great for shopping in the mall and walking where ever you'd like. My son (3 1/2) still enjoys riding in the back seat and my daughter is 2 and enjoys sitting in the front or back seat. It's about $400. It's not too heavy and folds up very easily and compact. The only complaint I have is it doesn't have a lot of storage.

I have the phil & teds and LOVE it. I really couldn't survive with out it. My twins are 15 months now and it has been a lifesaver. I've used it since they were about 3 months old and have absolutely no complaints.

I know it's incredibly expensive, but I find it worth every penny. It's light, it's slim so I don't feel like I'm pushing a monster stroller, and it's easy to steer with one hand. When my twins were young my then 2 year old could easily switch between walking or riding and it wasn't a huge issue to either have an empty seat or to switch babies in and out. AND I can push it one handed which ends up being huge to me. Some of my friends even take it out for the occasional run.

I don't know how many double strollers you've pushed but the side-by-sides are impossible to get through stores and the front-to-backs are horribly heavy and hard to steer. The phil & ted's is so great! It's also a great ride on the bumpy streets and sidewalks. None of my kids mind riding in the back either, which was initially my big concern.

The double McClaren also gets good reviews and I have friends who like that stroller, though it's more of a nice sidewalk stroller than a trail one.

I really LOVE the Phil & Ted's stroller. It's the only double stroller I would ever buy!

I am a mom of twin girls who are 3. I received 4, yes 4 strollers from my baby shower. In my opionion, the side by side tandem strollers aren't that great. They are not that comfortable for the babies, less room. Great for walking trails, but make sure the front wheel moves from side to side. The one I LOVED best is front and back, the kids seemed to really behave, they were comfortable, as they got older they had a preference where they wanted to sit. It's adjustable for sitting up and sleeping, the overhead canopies are great for blocking sun and rain. There's a cup holder for drinks, and small compartment for keys, and underneath storage for coats, pocket book, diaper bag, or whatever you need to take with you. It easily folds up so you can put it in the trunk, we've traveled a lot and it came on every plane. They allow you to check it in at the gate. Manouvers great! Here is one similar to what I have, definitely worth the money.

We have 1 1/2 year old twins. We have a couple of strollers that we got as hand-me-downs. Our favorite is the Maclaren. It is an umbrella stroller. It is light and goes in the back of our car as well as out on walks just around town. It also has a little storage underneith. My girls seem to like sitting next to each other. It is also narrow enough that I can get through any normal sized doorway, so I've even used it in stores. The front to back one we had worked well (until it broke, it was old) but the girls seem more relaxed in the side by side one.

Friends of mine have the Peg Perego one and really like it because their kids can be sitting up, not sitting slightly tilting back as some strollers require.

I must admit...I'm a stroller freak. I love trying all kinds out. I too have twins and found that I need both a front/back and side by side depending on what we are doing. I have a graco duoglider which is pretty good and cost effective. The downside is that when the kids get older its like turning a mack truck. I have a 5 and 3 year old and found that when they were younger I had to put the oldest in the back because my wrists could not take the stress of maneuvering it. We use it now for our 18 month old twins for neighborhood walks and places that a wider stroller might not fit.

My favorite all time side by side is the valco baby double. Its expensive but worth every penny. It has all kinds of bells and whistles, folds up without having to take off the wheels and is great for all-terrain jogging or on the trails. I love how it turns on a dime! I can literally spin the entire stroller with my pinky. I do wish it came with 2 cup holders instead of 1 (my husband and I often take our coffees out with us). Here is where I got mine.

The other really nice thing about the valco baby is that when we go to the mall, my 3 year and 5 year old can sit on the front and ride. (they don't market this of course but I find it helpful when taking 4 boys 5 and under out). I used it right from the start when they were infants. I think they make an attachment so you can click on the infant carrier.

I have the InStep double jogger, which is a LOT less expensive than other joggers, and I'm really not sure why. I'm very happy with it. I've only found a few doorways that it doesn't fit through... unfortunately, one of them is my doctor's office! So we were lucky that someone lent us a tandem DuoGlider as well. But the jogger is MUCH easier to maneuver! I use it 95% of the time.

We got a Phil&Ted's jogging stroller with an attachment on the back for the second child. Our kids are two years apart and we were warned of the side-by-side models for toy stealing. That may not be an issue for twins.

The Phil&Ted's is awesome. It handles so well on streets, in stores, on grass. The price is hefty, but worth it. The jogging stroller is about $400 and the attachment for the second kid is about $80.

We have a small car, and this collapses well enough to kit in our hatchback. The attachment comes off for easy storage or just taking one kid out. The stroller is a bit big for one kid, but great for two.

We had the BabyTrend double jog stroller and we loved it. It is a little wide for the mall, but the large tires were great on trails, beach and broken sidewalks (very common in our neighborhood). I would definitely recommend a sun shield. I had no problem steering or maneuvering it. We did have a front to back one and that seemed so long, it was actually harder to turn.

I also have adopted twins! They are 2 1/2 years old right now. For the first year, I used the Graco front to back stroller, as the car seats clipped right in and the boys loved being in it. They didn't want to get out at that point and could still see everything that was going on, plus it was easy to maneuver still. Then I got the Combi Twin Savvy side by side and that was great for the 2nd year of their lives. They had trays for snacks, could recline if needed, and had a sun shade.

Once they turned 2 they refused all strollers and now we go in a wagon when we walk the neighborhood or bike trails, etc.
