Mamas, where can I buy a donut to ease hip pain? I would rather buy it in person to feel the thickness.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone. Tadpole I will ask my chiropractor. I did not know of those possible side effects from the donut!

We have several medical supply stores in the area. They should have that type of item and should be able to help you.

You might ask a home health place for a recommendation.

I am thinking I've seen them before at those home health care places - sometimes attached to drug stores and pharmacies. Like where they sell nursing aids, canes, support stockings, that kind of thing. Just checked - Walmart has them too, you can see what they have online (just type in donuts that you sit on) and they come up with some different varieties (like filled with gel, etc.)

Type "medical supply stores" (without the quotation marks) followed by the name of your town into Google. These are the kind of stores that sell/rent wheel chairs, aids for showering, crutches, etc, and they sell all kinds of comfort things like cushions. They're open to the public, not just health professionals. I went to one to buy a shower chair for my daughter, that she could sit on and try out before purchasing.

Try Walgreens - they usually have some models available in store.
You might not need a donut specifically- there are gel memory foam cushion pads to relieve tailbone/hip/bursitis/sciatica pain.
There is a greater variety online both through Walgreens and Amazon - and probably other drugstore chains too.
You'll probably need more than one.
Many people will have one for home, one for the car, and one for their chair in their office at work.

Medical supply stores have all kinds of devices and aids. I'm sure there's one in your area so you won't have to drive that far. Staff are usually well trained to help.

just out of curiosity, have you discussed this pain with a dr? finding the cause and eliminating that would be better than just changing what your sitting on.
and after seeing your dr they can recommend which style donut or cushion will be better.
( my gyn gave me a waffle looking blow up seat for after my episiotomy said donuts cause more problems because of blood pooling in the area of the body that sinks into the hole. when my sister-in-law broke her tailbone she was given a horse shoe shaped thing to sit on.)
with so many options out there seeing a dr or physical therapist or other med pro would help you pick a shape that will help rather than damage further.

You buy the blow up kind, mine is rather an orangy red color. The valve holds the air in while you twist the closure screw.

I can make it firmer or softer.

Got it from Walmart

You can get blow up ones in the health section of stores like Fred Meyers and Walmart.
