I am looking for someone near Carrollton that has experience with hormone balancing and tension headaches. I actually think the headaches are due in large part to hormone fluctuations. I am looking for someone who isn't pushy and takes a more moderate stance on alternative medicine. For example, someone who doesn't immediately tell me that all medication is bad and you need this herb instead. I don't know enough about alternative medicine to know where to start. Any direction you can give me would be good. TIA

when you get checked, have them look at your vitamin D levels. also, have you noticed if MSG gives you headaches? it's hard to avoid it. it's even in ranch salad dressing! good luck finding the right doctor for you. herbs are wonderful, just like RX meds, not everything works for everyone. you need to find what works for you. Good luck! ~C.~

But, she's very experienced in dealing with hormonal issues. She's a conventionally trained MD (used to be an OB/GYN) that switched to functional medicine after she started having adrenal and other hormonal issues. She treats only women. She uses the best of both worlds and uses only bioidentical hormones. Hormones really aren't drugs, but it is really important that you get bioidentical ones as the synthetics often have unwanted side effects(they're available thru an Rx and there are some OTC ones that work quite well). The headaches may not be hormones, but rather diet and Dr. Christensen does consider diet issues such as gluten intolerance, which is very, very common. I used to have regular headaches and once I removed gluten from my diet, it is very, very rare for me to have a headache. I no longer travel with Ibuprofen, whereas I used to never be able to leave the house without it.
You should consider seeing Sharon Krahn, she has her doctorate in naturopathy and is an advanced BioSET practitioner. She is very weel versed in all kinds of alternative therapy, but will send you to an MD if you both think that is the way to go. I have had great results with her treatments for serotonin imbalances, and other clients have had great results with treatment for hormone flucuations as well - so much so that their MD called Sharon to see if she could refer clients to her.
She is located near Forest and Marsh Lane in Dallas, but just a short drive from Carrollton relatively speaking. :)

For your headaches make sure you are drinking enough water, divide your weight in half & that's how many ounces /day you need to drink, I know it's a lot if you're not a water drinker. Also make sure you're on a good multivitamin as this seems to help me. As far as hormone fluctuations go if it's around that time of the month i have a good vitamin that helps me. When it's that time for me I get very very angry @ everything, & very short tempered & yell @ the kids for no reason then I found this vitamin called primrose plus by nutrilite. I have become a different person in a good way, it allows me to function without being ugly to anyone it has been awesome! I highly recommend it, in fact my husband can tell when I haven't taken it, he likes me better when I do & I don't blame him. You can go to www.nutrilite.com & research them & if you want to order you go to www.eei.mychoices.biz. if you have any question feel free to contact me I am more of a vitamin person than a medicine person, & I do have some knowledge behind me about vitamins. Good luck! C.
