Going to be "frank" here....who cares, that is why there is a Vice Pres, and so on and so forth. Someone will always be there to take there place if something were to happen
Do you pray for their safe return? Do you feel vulnerable when "the Chief" is out of the country on vacation? Is that when the USA is most vulnerable? I just always think that. Does it bother you too? Or am I being silly?

I don't worry about the elected officials... but since my husband is in the USAF and flys the Sec. Of Defense around (not elected; he's appointed) I do care about my hubby.
Couldn't care less when "elected officials" are out and about. I worry about my husband, I worry about my children and my extended family. I am sure that if, god forbid, a car accident were to happen and take the lives of my family those "elected officials" would not be feeling bad for me! We are not more or less vulnerable when he is out of country....really...what's O. man going to do?
Nope. They have security. They're more safe than I am if I were to leave the country.
Concerning vacation days, Obama take lots of what most people would consider vacation days but he just calls them days off with extended weekends so they can't be counted as "vacations". Never seen someone take so many days off with their extended weekends. And when W took vacations many were done at his ranch while conducting work and having people visit and do work. Just ask his wife how much fun their "vacations" were.

I pray for our government as a whole, but don't worry about where Airforce 1 is going on any regular basis.
Do you think they pray about us?
couldn't care less....................
Obviously our elected officials don't care too much about us so I'm not so worried about them.
They have the best security in the world and a succession of power if something happens. Nope, not worried.
And about the vacation days.... even when they're on vacation they're working, if they're the president anyway. So I don't put much stock in those numbers. Seems like we've survived with each president and the number of vacation days they took. They're all the same anyway -- democrats and republicans -- so who cares.
I don't care...except when Obama comes to Chicago and ties up traffic from O'Hare to the Hyde Park neighborhood. Do you have any idea how far that is? Even if he gets in a helicopter? And dang it, he always seems to do it during the peak of rush hour! I mean, he's LIVED here before - he knows how bad rush hour is without him having to jack up the flow! Is he trying to not get re-elected? (For those of you who are dim, this is all sarcasm and satire btw)
I feel less vulnerable when he is out of the country because, in my warped sense of logic, I think the whack-jobs are less likely to try and take him out.
Umm that would mean I would have to keep track of their schedule. I have enough trouble keeping track of my own!.
No, they (particularly the POTUS) have the best security in the world . . .
I also don't believe any O. person can keep us "safe."
JMO.
I don't worry O. bit.....LOL
Hi, Denise:
Thank God for people like you.
We need more like that.
I feel like the USA is in deep trouble today more
than ever.
Thanks for caring.

No, I don't think about it. Part of the job is traveling abroad, and our Presidents have all been most at risk while on home turf (Lincoln, JFK, Regan).
I do find it interesting that while it's OK for the Secretary of State to have her plane fueled mid-air, they won't do that for the POTUS because it's too dangerous. I read Madeleine Albright's autobiography and was just fascinated with some of the logistics of travel when heads of state are involved.
Hi Denise
When Obama was in Ireland today!! Did I mention that somewhere before?or is it deja vu ?lol .Well he had a bullet proof glass around him when he was making his speech.
He stressed his bodyguards out no end because he kept insisting on walking in the crowd.
I can see why you would think that. America is O. of the most powerful countries in the world so the President is the most powerful man which leads to more threats.
Our Irish politicans and President travel a lot more freely .

I figure there are people out there who are being paid lots of money to worry about their safety so I don't have to. I never know when they're traveling, anyway. I'm not even sure of any other elected officials aside from the top guy and his second in command (yes, I am VERY current on my politics - NOT).
I won't name names but there are a fair few that I wish would....just kidding, I would never wish harm on anyone not matter how bad an official they are.
To answer your question no. We have a pretty good system in place to deal with such issues.
No, I don't worry. There is a line of succession and a lot of trained people to keep him safe. I do pray for the President, whomever he is, because it is an impossible job and no matter what he does, people are going to complain.
I don't worry about their safety so much.
I worry much more about what they are going to say when they are giving speeches in other countries.
Our democracy has a system in place that will keep the government rolling if somethings happens to the President, or any other politician, for that matter.
You're not silly - well not too much. LOL
:P
No, mostly because I don't know when they are traveling. I never thought much about it until Gabi Giffords.
But it's not silly. You always have interesting questions, Denise.
