Belle, that is so nice and generous of you to think of others in need. I come from a similar background as you and, needless to say, it does hurt when you see other kids celebrating Christmas or any occasions and not receiving anything (or not even celebrating your birthday because our parents couldn't afford it!). I remember my first and only doll that I got for Christmas one year. It was a ceramic black doll about 2" tall and I just loved it!! It broke after a few months and I cried my eyes out! That was my only doll ever!
My husband and I are very active with our church. We help an organization called Beautiful Feet (for the homeless). The person in charge of it is Rob Schill. He has a list of families (don't think it is associated with Beautiful Feet)that are really in dire need of alot of things. You may give him a call and let him explain the program to you. Rob's cell # is ###-###-####. Home # is###-###-####.
We also help our sister parish in Honduras. There are alot of families that really need help! The person in charge of that is Kirstin Kloesel, but she just lost her Dad, and I am sure they are quite busy with the funeral arrangements. Stay in touch with me and I can give you her phone # later if you are interested.
You are a true angel! God bless!
