Ew....I tried it a couple of months ago because I've heard a lot of buzz, but I took the first sip and thought it was disgusting. It wasn't just the flavor, it was the consistency that I didn't like. I'm not a fan.
I recently have been reading some about the health benefits of Coconut Water and have read some promising things. I have recently started on my way to losing 40 lbs after having kids and am looking for a variety of drink options. Just wondered how many of you Mamas drink Coconut Water, what you think about it and what brand is your favorite?
Thanks everyone for the responses...I have been on a healthy eating plan for the last 3 weeks and have lost 7 lbs so far. I always drink lots of water, and it can get really dull sometimes. Think I might give Coconut water a shot for something different.

Didn't know it was a "diet" thing, but I did know it is healthy and a great way to hydrate. We drink tons of spring water, too and we all love coconut water. As far as brands, I always go for organic (GMO's freak me out as well as pesticides), any brand.
Yes! We drink and LOVE coconut water here! All six kids, myself and hubby.
We don't drink it for diet or weight loss purposes, but because it's so healthful. We've been drinking it for about ten years.
I don't usually purchase the canned or packaged kind. Usually we just buy young coconuts and crack them open. We pour out the water to enjoy (it's SO much tastier than the prepacked type!) and then I scoop out the flesh. There's always a scrambling to get to the flesh, my kids just LOVE it. Sometimes (if I can avoid it being scooped up by little fingers ;) I'll make a pudding out of the flesh. What a treat, and so healthful!
Occasionally, we will purchase the packed kind to take with us on trips. It's not nearly as good as fresh, but we still enjoy the flavor. Try the different brands; not all are created equally. ;) I usually buy the cheapest one, but that's just because my kids will drink any coconut water.
Mostly we drink it in the hot hot days of summer when the kids (and me!) are running around and sweating. It's a perfect replacement for those electrolyte drinks (gatorade), without any of the nasty ingredients.
Eeek, I tried it yesterday , I really did not like it and glad I had not paid for it.
If you like the flavor, go for it. Otherwise it is just the latest in a long string of fad 'diet products'. Your best bet to losing the 40 pounds is to adopt a nutrition plan you can follow for a lifetime and exercise. As far as hydration is concerned, good ole water works just fine!
And virgin coconut oil, and coconut butter..yes, all very good for you! I actually don't like the taste of coconut, but LOVE the smell, haha.. but I am still trying to incorporate it all into my foods as much as possible for the health benefits. But if you do like coconut, you must try the butter, it's the raw flesh, and smells AMAZING! For me, I use the oil and butter sparingly in place of regular oil/butter for rice dishes, chicken etc.. it really does give it a wonderful rich taste. I'm no much of a sweet drinker, and the coconut water is slightly sweet. I had once tried the one with pineapple, and it was quite good, just too sweet for me. I don't remember the brand though. Good luck with the diet, you can do it!!!!!!!!! :)
I didn't like the flavor either... I do recommend putting some stawberries, orange slices, lemon slices, cucumber, in ice water. It flavors the water and is great fo summer. *just one at a time. Then you can take a multivitamin for nutrition. Good luck : )
The taste of the packaged coconut waters isnt all that great. I get them occasionally to add to homemade smoothies tho. I use coconut milk as well.
I do not like the Coconut water. I was sad when I bought some and tried it, and after one sip didnt like it. I think also though it was the flavor of it that I didnt like....So, if you try the mango...try buying the smaller box of it first:) I do love the Coconut milk though.
I love coconut water. I buy tender coconuts in asian/indian grocery shops. Although not for health benefits..I just love the taste :)
i just tried coconut yogurt ($$) which was good, but had alot of saturated fat, so i'm not sure if its the water or what they added...
I love my cocunut water. I began drinking it because I am pregnant and was having lots of cramps. The potassium in it has been so helpful. I will say, I do not like all of the brands. I prefer it with another taste, which is why I like to drink the O.N.E. brand. They have it plain, mango flavor, pink guava flavor, pineapple, etc. It is supposed to be very healthy for you!
You don't need coconut water unless you are working out and sweating a lot. We use it in protein shakes, making oatmeal, and to add a change of flavor to something we are making. We are clean eaters and hard core exercisers. We are not picky people. It works great for us as another way to hydrate.
I only drink it after a hard workout, and I'm not crazy about it, but it's a great way to hydrate. I drink the Zico brand. One caveat, my friends say it really makes them go to the bathroom, but I haven't experienced that. (One friend says I must have a colon of steel.)
I LOVE coconut water!
I like it on ice and it's a great drink on a hot day or any time you are sweating a lot.
A single serving has got more potassium than a banana.
It's consistency is just like regular water.
(Coconut water / coconut milk are entirely different - I use coconut milk to make a great chicken coconut curry dish my family loves).
It must be something that you either love or don't. We bought some of it when we were in Las Vegas and my husband didn't like it at all. I also didn't like the taste or smell of it but I drank it because we paid over $3 for a smaller glass bottle of it. To me it tasted bitter and smelled salty, sort of like the ocean. Maybe if it was mixed with another fruit I would have liked it better?
