DISGUSTING Potty Habit...

If he loves to be naked then the deal should be no pooping outside. If he poops outside I would put his clothes on immediately and maybe even take it away for the next day if you think he understands that. I would also go over the rules at the beginning of outside naked play and even pause in the middle to take himto the bathroom. I had a similar pee issue with my 3 yr old when he was playing video games (he wouldn't stop to go pee so he just peed on the computer chair). 2 days with no computer helped him stop that! why not stop it where it starts, i know you don't mind the nakedness and why not, it feels good and it's summertime, and if he's really fond of spending his time in the buff, why not offer him a choice, he may feel like he is in charge of the decision this way, tell him either he can do as you've asked, poop in the toilet, explaining to him that the areas he and his brother play in need to be clean, and for their safety and if they wish to continue playing naked outside and enjoying their space in their birthday suits, he can no longer poop there, it must be done inside, in the bathroom in the toilet! or he will have to put clothes on while his brother, because he uses the toilet may continue to play naked. then ask again reiterating; are you going to poop inside?, or do we have to put some clothes on you? mind you this will probably only work if he rally wants to be naked. hope you find a solution to your messy little problem.

When we did the naked thing outside, I put a potty chair outside to make the trips to the potty shorter.

Also, if he is not responsible enough with his bodily functions when he is naked, maybe he is not ready for the naked privilege.

Put clothes on him! If he can't go to the bathroom then he should get his clothes put back on, with a pull up if needed. He knows how to go into the bathroom, so the issue is not that he can't but that he wont.
I think that play outside should be with clothes on anyway, little boys climb on stuff, jump off things, fall down, ect. It seems to be a safety issue, he could hurt his little junk!
My pedi has told me to let my kids run around the HOUSE with out clothes to give them some air after a diaper rash or something, but I don't let them run around out side like that. They need to get the idea that there is a time and place for things like this. If you don't show them when and where before you know it they will be undressing at a public park!

I have two pieces of advice.

1) Do not get punitive. You could very easily set him back and then have bigger potty issues. Truly.

2) Don't have him run around naked, so that he doesn't have the chance. If the only time he poops on the ground is when he doesn't have clothes on then just keep his clothes on for 3 months and then give nakedness another try.

Please don't punish him or make him feel bad. He's not going to do it when he's 20!

No time to read the other responses, but here's my thought--(I trained mine the same way, but with panties on and a portable potty in the backyard). Tell them they're "big boys" now, and they have to have on their big boy pants or a swimsuit. It's not comfy if they soil their pants. Unfortunately, you may just have to keep catching them in the act. If they're going to be going to pre-school, you can use that as the "carrot". Good luck. N.

OMG! We went through this recently with my son. I thought it was going to make me crazy. And all this time I thought our son was doing it because he saw our dogs doing it. LOL When I had had it with the pooping outside, I told my son if he did it again, I was going to wash his behind off with the hose. Well, you guessed he did it again and I followed through. Unfortunately, I had to do this twice, but he no longer poops outside. I know it seems a bit extreme, but I couldn't take the pooping outside. I'll be interested to see other's ideas. Good luck.
