I am seeking information from any past or current members of The Doors located in Kearns Utah. I would like to know what this church is about and the practices of the church. I am seeking all information good and bad, to help me better understand some concerns I have. One of my daughters was put through what this place calls a saving, the problem is she is creeped out by it, she says they made her close her eyes through the process, said some kind of chant/prayer, had her repeat some stuff she does not understand, she says when they were done there was a strange symbol on her chest. I have talk to a few people who have only state that this church totally creeped them out and they would not return to it, but nothing useful as to why, I know that they preach in what is called tongue (like a auctionier fast paced) which could very well explain why kids cannot understand them but I just need more informative information. Please anyone Help!!!!!!!!

So What Happened?

I thank everyone for their support, I was able to finally get information on this place and as I suspected it is a cult that has been around for a while, It is run by one man at the mother church in Arizona his name is Wayman Mitchell, there are several differant names for these places used from state to state but they are all run by one man. As I already knew from my childrens accounts of this place it is very scary, so for anyone who knows someone that is in or considering attending this church please have them check out this website http://www.rickross.com/groups/door.html This was the most informative for me and really helped me with what my kids are going thru, I am now taking them to therapy to help. This church is the Doors it is located in Kearns off 4000 West 5400 south For some adults this church has helped them get off drugs and so on, but there is a catch it is and can be very difficult to get out and it could result in a lot of mental issues sometimes far worse than drugs can do, they literally put the fear of god in you in attempt to prevent you from ever leaving the church, somepeople have indicated that it has taken them years to ever even touch the subject of God or pick up a bible. Teenagers and very vulnerable adults can be easily persuaded by this kind of cult as They target drug users, vulnerability, such as those from broken discruntled homes, low self esteem, no self confidence, minimal friends and family contact and those with no bible back ground. Again I thank all of you for your information it has helped.

T.,
I would trust the feelings of your daughter.
There must be other places to attend that feel safer to her.
With my whole heart, C.

Churches, unlike schools are not public places. Many of the practices found in charismatic, pentacoastal churches are bizarre to those raised in other faiths or those whose interpretation of the bible is different. My bottom line with my children has been, trust your gut... If you don't feel peace there, use your feet and find another place to worship.
Good luck!

I have never heard of this church, but I would be very upset if my ex were taking my children to such a place. To learn more I would take a friend and go to a service myself without the kids. If they don't let you in the door, then that is a huge red flag and I would take legal steps to prevent my ex from taking my children there. (I remember you had posted before and stated that your ex was taking your children to this strange church). Good luck.

The best way to know is visit the church yourself.
You have a right to know what your daughter is getting into. Also, if your daughter is creeped out by what is going on, she has the right to say NO. Even if she is embarassed at the moment she will feel better about it in the long run.

First and formost, any church that gives people "creepy feelings", should be seriously avoided. Not understanding some of their teachings isn't the issue here. No one should be going through/experiencing a ritual or whatever they call it without understanding it completely! My best advice is stay away from them for the sake of your children. And a word of scripture doctrine for you is if they speak in some sort of tongues, there must be an interpreter there so the people will understand. From your question it appears no one understands what is being said. I can understand why your daughter felt creepy.

i have never heard of this church but if it were my daughter she would never go back there. anyplace with chants and symbols is out in my book. If it creeped her out she should not have to back. Let whomever it was that took her there know that she will not be returning. Trust her instincts

You have enough information already! I'm sure you are wanting some reassurance or someone who relates to what your daughter has experienced. Since she didn't feel good about what took place, she shouldn't go back, you can help her make that choice. This is one of those easy ones... make decisions based on your mind and your heart. Creepy is a heart feeling, it means this isn't good or right for me. Not heeding those feelings is where people get into more serious problems. Good luck T.!

I don't know anything about that church, but church should not give you a creepy feeling. People should be able to understand what is being taught, even children to a degree. And I don't think they should be asked to repeat stuff they don't understand. I think I would look into a different church.
