This is my first child getting baptized and I would like some ideas for her baptism. I want to make it special for her but also keep the focus on the actual baptism. I would love others ideas, musical numbers or themes. Thanks a ton!

My daughter is also getting baptised. With my older two kids we always pass a paper around to everyone who comes over and we each write down our favorite scriptures. My Sister in law just did that for my nephew but she put them on note cards and will lamenate them and put them on a key ring to keep in his scriptures. It is a lot of fun and my kids love looking up the scriptures. We can also remember who came. Another Sister in law always lets the child choose the menu for the dinner after. We have had some funny stuff, but it is always fun for the child getting baptised. Make sure you record a lot after and you and your daughter write down what happens. You don't want to forget the special day.

Congradulations.

since you said this is your first getting baptized, i'm assuming your other 3 children are younger? if so, i suggest keeping it short and sweet. you can do a very nice service in half an hour or less and you have less stress about the younger kids' irreverence. i have been to baptisms recently where the parents and grandparents were invited to share testimonies afterward. it's a nice idea, but if you've got both sets of grandparents there or more, it just becomes too much. so just have a few speakers/ testimonies.

I have written a lovely book about baptism. It is short , sweet, and cheap! It's titled "Did you know you were born to be a king or a queen?", based on a talk by Jack Christianson. It is being printed now, but if you need it before its finished, I could make you one. It would cost 2.50. that is at cost. I do not want to make a profit on these. My Patriarchal Blessing says I will be given the talent to write gospel stories for children. This is my way of fulfilling that. Email me at ____@____.com if you are interested.

My niece just got baptized last week and my sis in law did a great job. I don't know if she is getting baptized with anyone else or not (my niece was alone). This is how my niece's went. We start out with an opening song on baptism from children's book than had a grandparent give a 5 min talk on importance of baptism, then she got baptized by her dad. While she was changing we watched a video slide show of her life so far. Then when she returned the video ended and the other grandparent got up and gave 5 min talk on the holy ghost, she was then confirmed and we had a closing song and prayer. It was fun and simple but very memorable. Hope that helps.

One thing I like is being given the chance to write a little note to the kid who just got baptized while waiting for him/her to get dried and dressed. It gives me a chance to tell him/her how much I love and support him/her and share my testimony of the experience.
