I.G.
I sold ours on craigslist. It was in good condition and had not been recalled at that time. I gave the potential buyer the serial number so they could check it for themselves and I still had the assembly instructions.
Good luck!
What can we do with drop-side cribs now that so many have been recalled and there is legislation in the works to ban them altogether by 2011? I was planning on selling mine at consignment but now they are not accepting them. I don't want to just "throw" it away. Does anyone know of a place that will take them, even for donation?
TIA

Put it on Craig's List or freecycle.com
you could try to donate it to planned parenthood or a woman's shelter. Or ask around your co-workers or friends to see if there is a young mom in need.
If you can remember where you bought it, then you can take it back to your store.
Look up the model and serial of your crib and check for a recall. I would google "X" crib #"XXXX" and see what comes up.
Mine was a recalled crib. I got it from WalMart. I called a 1800 number and they gave me not only the manufacturer information but how and what to bring with me to the store in order to get a complete refund (plus $20).
I also have considered taking OFF the one drop down side and selling it as a toddler bed (if yours is a 3 in one or similar) and that way there is no "real" safety issues with the drop down.
NO ONE is able to take a recalled baby bed. It's against the law. You can try and sell it on Craig's List, but allot of parents are VERY well informed these days. Putting mine up for sale is how I found out my crib was recalled.
Good luck to you.
Just PLEASE let your buyer know about the re-calls and legislation! Many will already know, many will not even care, but it's important that you atleast do your part to inform them just in case.
