Here is a web site listing child development milestones. It suggests a child should be able to crawl on hands and knees by 12 mos. Please keep in mind that it is normal to vary from this schedule as long as a child is meeting most of the milestones.

My son crawled at 10 months and when he did, he perfected it in a couple hours. Don't worry, not all babies crawl and if they do, they do it at all different times and ways.

Sign up your child so you can receive the daily, weekly, and monthly emails that say Your baby is about ready to do this this week of age.....

They are fun and give you a standard age that kids are usually doing a certain thing.

Some kids never crawl, they do have to go back at some point in the future and learn how to do it but overall, if they don't crawl it's not the end of everything. All the other stuff could happen early or on time too.

Does he move around the room when he drops to his belly and makes a swimming motion? Doctors and researchers say there's no one way to crawl, there's many ways. The main thing is if the child can get around the room or house on his or her own...crawling, rolling, walking on hands and feet, however they can move. And a child doesn't HAVE to crawl to learn to walk.

So long as your child is getting around, don't worry. There is no one way to crawl, and there is no one age that is correct. While crawling has benefits, some kids never crawl. If your pediatrician isn't worried, you shouldn't be.

Work on sitting upright with out help/support, crawling will come after. If your child is not improving on the sitting up with out support skill contact your pedi or Early Childhood Interventionist so they can confirm there is no underlying medical reason(s).

My son didn't crawl til later.
Then he popped up to standing to walk right away.
Every child will do it on their own schedule.

As long as your pediatrician isn't concerned then try not to get worked up.
Some babies skip crawling & pop right up to walking.
Some army crawl.
Some scoot etc.
He's still young.
My SD crawled/walked sooner but my son figures things out earlier (like how to work the tv etc) so each child is diff.

Nine months is well within the normal limits for crawling. The fact that he is getting up on hands and knees shows that he is moving in the right direction, still working on the stability that he needs to make that first move.
