Does anyone know of any consignment stores that will take maternity clothes? After 2 pregnancies, I have a ton of maternity clothes that I don't plan on using again so I would like to get rid of them and maybe make a little money in the process!

You could look at doing Divine Consign. It would be a little more work intensive, but you'd probably make a little more than you would at a store like Kid 2 Kid.

Most children's consignment stores have a maternity section, however I would recommend (if you've got the time) to sell your clothes at consignment sales, rather than at the stores. Consignment stores do not give you near the amount of money for what they would sell second-hand. I know of 2 consignments sales coming up in Feb and March that are located in Lewisville and Frisco. Please let me know if you're interested and I'll forward you their information.
You also would probably be able to sell them on Craigslist.com (in bulk or individually pieced) at decent prices and there's always ebay.
I don't know about maternity, but when I was selling baby clothes, I posted on Craigslist and sold all of them within three days...very successful for me. Go to www.craigslist.net and click on the Dallas area link and you can post classifieds for free.

Check out www.divineconsign.net. I've consigned there twice and shopped there as well. Last time I consigned a bunch of maternity clothes. They all sold! There is a sale in Grapevine and one in Plano. I think you make a bit more at the sale then if you sold them to a consignment shop.

Try the "baby area" on the www.craigslist.com This is how I sold my maternity clothes and actually got some money from it (not a fortune but far better then consignment shops will ever offer you). There is no additional fees. It is like and add in the paper, except it is online and for FREEE. Hope it helps. Lilla

I sold some of my maternity clothes on eBay and found that the consignment stores were only willing to give 1 or 2 dollars per item. I have had pretty good success selling items at a consignment sale, both maternity and childrens clothing, toys, bedding,etc. This is usually a sale that lasts for a couple of days. You set the prices on your items, the promoters get a percentage of the sale, you get opportunities to volunteer to get a larger percentage on your sold items. The one I have participated in is:

They have a sale in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas a couple of times a year and are currently looking for a venue in Frisco to have a sale. They take 30% of your earnings on sold items if you can't volunteer and only 20% if you can volunteer, pass out fliers, have a sign in your yard or refer 5 people who end up consigning. If you live too far from this sale, there are sales all over and they all offer pretty much the same type of deal. A mom on this list recently posted all the sales that she knew about in the DFW area. You can probably find it in the archives. If not, I think I still have it and could forward it to you.
I really think consignment sales offer the seller a much better return on their initial investment than taking the low prices offered through consignment shops or the hassle of trying to sell on eBay, with one caviat. If you have really high end stuff like Japanese Weekend, Babystyle, etc, eBay might be the better way to go. If all else fails, you can always donate to Goodwill or another charity and get a nice tax deduction (if you itemize your taxes).
