S.S.
Its been forever since we used them but the trojan ones seemed to be the best. We used to keep them in a candy dish next to the bed. Cause after all you want them in easy reach right?
We decided my husband and myself that I should be stopping taking birth pills for several reasons. My question is, we tried condoms but my husband does not feel anything when he wears the condom and it is not fun anymore. We are too embarassed to ask at the store about the ebst quality. Is there a certain brand that he sould be using? Did you have the same experience? We end up just wasting them.. he also tells me that the condom hurts him?? Any suggestions?

Get a larger size (yes the are sized ;) and thinner material. I'm not sure if they make a large size and thin of the Trojan fire and ice, but that is one amazing amazing amazing condom!!!!!! LOVE IT! I highly suggest it to everyone even if they are on birth control. I felt thing I didn't know I would feel. Lets just say that :D
I hope you two can have some fun :D
p.s. have you ever though of getting a copper IUD? It doesn't have any hormones and it works up to 10 years. Just a thought.
Great advice so far. I just want to throw out something a little out of the box, though. You say the condoms hurt him. If he's a large guy, by all means, size up. BUT.....(and you didn't offer this info) if he's not....ahem......trimmed.....down there, the condoms might be catching and tugging at his hair on his shaft, testicles, ect. Have you ever had a hair colorist color your hair wearing latex or nitrile gloves? Ouch! I had a head massage from a reputable salon and the guy wore latex gloves!!! I was in so much pain and it was the biggest waste of money ever. It's too bad, because I was really looking forward to a wonderful, professional head massage. In fact, a head massage is really the only reason I love to have my hair shampooed!
Anywhooo, that was just a thought that popped into my head when I read this.
try non latex or the lambskin ones? also put gel inside on on the outside
Condoms come in various sizes and textures. There are so many choices that what works for one may not work for another. Go and buy a small box or 3 pack of all the ones you see and start trying them out. There will be one he likes more than the rest. You need to have fun with this! :)
Trojan Magnums. There is also a selection of lubricants that can be pleasuring for him and her that come on the condom or seperately in a bottle you may want to try, like fire and ice. Good luck!!
We order our condoms online at condomsusa. We've been using condoms since I had our (almost) 6 year old. Generally if a condom says sensitive or extra sensitive it will be thinner and better for the man. The thing we like about ordering them on this website is that they usually let you have some free condoms of your choice with each order so you can try different ones to work out whats best for you and hubby. Our personal faves are the Durex ultra sensitive (pink/purple wrapper).
Trojans are the best. They have a second skin one that's very thin and was our fav. Just go down the isle and look at them and pick a" thin" one. We used them every single time until I got my paragard. I don't miss them but it doesn't have to be a bad thing! Have fun!
We liked the Trojan brand. They have a lot of options that can be confusing, but I think those are one of the best quality, although, to be honest, I'm not all that well versed in condoms anymore! If it hurts, maybe it's too small?? If your husband is on the larger side he could try using the Magnum brands. Also, putting lube on the inside and outside is a good suggestion too, that could help. We always bought lubricated condoms anyway, with spemicide. We only used condoms in that period before kids were born and I was back on BC, but they are a pain! I applaud you for taking steps to make your body feel better if the pill is bothering you, but I might also encourage you to look at other forms of BC for either you or your husband. I know if it were me the condom routine would wear out soon! I hope you guys get it worked out soon!
We just use spermacide, either suppositories or film. I know they are not as effective as condoms, but soooo much better.
My husband loves to use the trojan magnums - I think even if he wasn't well endowed he would buy them, just to feel good lol.
He has never had a complaint about lack of feel with them
Another vote for Trojan Magnums

just a bit of advice be very careful putting lube on the inside of the condom. too much and it will slip off and then it has failed to protect you against pregnancy. The advice of trying the larger sized condoms is right on if it is hurting him. Also there is a large variety of try. You can either buy small boxes of several kinds and have fun trying them out or look online for companies that offer samples and try them out that way. Or if you have an adult store near you they will often be able to help you. some even have "fish bowls" of condoms set out for you to be able to get several different types that won't cost you the same as whole boxes.
Okay, it's been forEVER since we've used condoms, but 1st of all, if they're hurting him, try the Trojan Magnum... they're bigger ;) Second, they make the super thin ones, so it's supposed to feel more 'natural' for him.
Good luck!
If you prefer the use-as-you go barrier method, you might want to look into female condoms (sorry, I have not experience with those, but know they exist) or a diaphragm. Both are products that you use rather than him, so it may help him enjoy it more.
I think you might be able to get female condoms at the drug store, but you do need to see your doc and get fitted and a prescription for a diaphragm (the good news, though, is that you only buy it once and reuse, and then at your regular annual apts make sure the fit is still good).
if you're using condoms I'm guessing you're not trying to get pregnant-
so, in light of that assumption I will suggest a non-hormonal IUD
and if you're done having kids- look into essure (essure.com)
best wishes!
