Hi all! I am helping throw a co-ed baby shower for my friend who is having a girl. I'm trying to come up with creative decorations that are not expensive, and some fun games that will be interesting for men and women.

Give me your ideas! Thanks!

What can I do next?

I did a fun gift for the dad one time at a baby shower. I took a tool box (found one at a thrift store) and filled it with diaper changing items for dad. It had diapers, diaper rash cream, powder etc. and then a few funny things like a mask and rubber gloves. it was pretty funny!

Hanging baby clothes on a line while trying to hold the baby. One we did was "birth the baby", you get tiny babies(from walmart several come in a pack) freeze them in ice cubes. You have to suck on the ice(no biting) who ever "has" their baby first wins!

You've gotten a lot of great suggestions. I will add one more that was a big hit at a co-ed shower I threw for a friend. Do a Mad Libs of the story of how the parents met. Hilarious!

Good luck & have fun!

We had a coed shower and I don't know why more people don't. It was a lot of fun, and we were able to include all of our friends. My friend that hosted came up with a great jeopardy game that everyone loved (we were separated on teams by gender). She had the weirdest little facts about babies and birth, I remember one about the woman who has had the most children (69, she lives in Russia). We had no corny baby games, it was a fun party for grownups, that was somewhat baby related. For decorations, she used baby toys and items, which she then gave to me.

Have a race, making the men drink punch/beer/whatever out of a bottle.

Hang baby clothes on a clothesline while holding a toy baby AND talking on the phone.

Have the men race (just because it's funnier to watch the men squirm), to undress the toy doll, change it's diaper, then get the doll dressed again.

Or do like a '3-armed-race' where the couple has to hold hands (just one hand each) and change the baby's diaper together. Say something like "Since we all know that when babies come, you gotta work hard to keep the marriage strong, in this exercise you will stay connected holding hands but take care of your baby's needs as well." They could either change a dolls diaper together OR fold onesies, socks, towels, etc, OR mix and measure formula (use fake stuff, koolaid/sugar maybe instead since it's cheaper) and put it into a bottle.

Melting candy bars in diapers and having to guess what they are.....using cloth diapers and see who can diaper the baby the fastest, and then you can turn around and give them to the parents as a gift, I used them as burp clothes.

One game that is fun is baby dressing. You get a big doll and clothes and a diaper. Both parents are blindfolded and they have to dress the "baby" together. It can be pretty funny to watch, especially if they are new parents.

I had a co-ed shower and we were going to eliminate games, but my MIL and a few others suggested we have some. Anyway, those who wanted to play - played, and those who did not - did not. Surprisingly, almost all the women played.

I ready some responses, but not all - here are some co-ed games if you are leaning towards games .... 1) baby food jar - blind fold the hubby and I fed him the baby food - he had to guess what it was 2) we put 8 oz of beer in bottles and the guys (only, because the girls played other games already) had to try and be the first to finish their bottle of beer - this was a hit and so much fun (funny seeing our men drink from bottles)... other games were traditional baby shower games, that teh men did not participate in.

Finally decorations - we kept it simple to the decorations of our nursery only. The only co-ed decoration was an enlarged canvass of our maternity picture together - we had our guests sign it.... have fun!

My baby shower was co-ed, use oriental trading company to buy your decorations. Also, for games, I did allot of funny stuff, Baby Bottle drinking contest throught those nipples, you can put whatever you want in the bottle but make it the small ones. Baby Food Testing/Guessing Contest usually baskin robbins will give you a bunch of spoons if you ask. baby bingo, scratch off lottery tickets. As for prizes, I got Victoria Secret lotions for the girls and some boy stuff from Z-Gallery but really you can find little prizes anywhere. Body Shop works great when they have deals for less on lotions. Don't forget the favors... I had Chocolate bars wrapped with the date of the shower. You can find on ebay people to make these wrapper covers and the scratch off lottery tickets for a good price. Good Luck, I know when it's co-ed it will be fun. We had deli make up sandwhiches but Costco works too and you can if you have a chocolate fountain, it was great! Enjoy planning and have fun!

Hi Karin, Honestly I would skip the games for a co-ed party (unless the Mom to Be has her heart set on playing games). Most people would rather just hang out and celebrate the happy couple with food and drinks, and opening of gifts :)
I'd just focus on having some cute decor (and a cute cake or cupcakes) and maybe a bib/onesie decorating station that's OPTIONAL for people (buy paint pens and blank bibs or onesies and let them decorate them if they want). Have fun!

We once had a very successful co ed baby shower and also a couple of
co-ed bridal showers. Keep it simple and have lots of yummy food. Multi
generational helps too.
Games might not be needed. Just enjoy the company.
The guys might appreciate a few bottle of wine mixed in with the bottle of coke
and fruit just all too help one's self.
