Hello,

I'm in need of a Suv due to my children are older and taller now. The children are 10,11 and 12yr. My 2 small dogs of course. Their knees are in my back in my 2002 toyota camry. My job has great discounts with majority of dealerships so that was a plus however i can't get the mileage right.
My heart's desire is to have the Nissan Armada ITS JUST LOVELY, but i have found the right price, color etc. but their mileage seems be 11 city 13 hwy something like that.
Toyota is my 2nd choice. I need a suv but i don't want to get one because the price was good etc. but always worried about the gas you can't enjoy your new suv that way,ha. Any advice i'm listening. I am only interested in TOYOTA,NISSAN,CHEVY.
Thanks in advance

What can I do next?

Hi there!
I went with the Toyota Higlander Sport and am so happy I did! I actually looked at a lot of different suv's and found the highlander was roomier in the 2nd row and front. My husband is 6'4" and can sit in the passenger seat in the front or back and is comfortable!
Hope this helps!

My mom has the GMC Acadia (has for 2 years) I think the chevy version is the Traverse. I don't know about the mileage, but we all love it. If they'd had it when I was buying a car, I would have purchased that one.

I am the proud owner of a new Toyota Venza. I love Toyotas and sized up from the corolla. This is a cross over type vehicle, with all the bells of a SUV and pretty good on gas. I don't do any highway driving so I currently get 23-24 MPG. Tons of room in the front and back seats. Nice Cargo Area that could accommodate the dogs. I got the 4cyl all wheel drive but they come in 6cyl too, there goes the gas. I would test drive one just so you can see how roomy it is.

i know it's not on your list, but please consider a Mazda 5. it seats 6 comfortably and is a station wagon. it fits in parking spots and gets great gas mileage. it's affordable too!

I second the GMC Acadia suggestion. I was a die-hard Honda girl and really wanted a Pilot but my husband reseached the 2 and the Acadia came out on top, especially when I test drove them both. We've had ours for 2 years now and every time I get in it, I'm reminded of why I love it. It has a remote starter which is the best feature in my opinion. Walking out from the grocery store in the Texas heat, no problem...just start it up and the car is cooled off before you get to it. Same thing with this cold weather. I can put my 2 year old daughter in a warm car now without having to worry about someone stealing her and the car while I'm putting the buggy away. Greatness! It also has third row seating, good gas mileage (don't remember all the numbers) and all the bells and whistles. Love, love LOVE my Acadia!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, MY CHEVY TAHOE! There is plenty of room with third row seating. I get 16 miles per gallon in town and 19-20 on the highway. Anyways, give it a test drive and I bet you will like it!

We went through this search just recently. I originally wanted a Toyota Sequoia - but my husband nixed it based on the V8 engine and poor gas mileage - he said it was a big heavy truck that I would regret... I also looked at the Highlander, the Honda Pilot, the Nissan Pathfinder, and the GMC Acadia. I really wanted an Acadia but we were buying used and we got a much better deal on our Volvo XC90 - we LOVE it - no regrets. I too have a family of 5 (kids are 7, 11, and 13) I wanted the second row to seat 3 and I needed the 3rd row seating for carpool and friends/family. Some of the Acadias have bucket seats in the middle row - and that wouldn't have worked for me. I want all 3 of my kids to be able to sit there for trips when we have lots of cargo.

Good luck in your search. :)

What about a Chevy Equinox? Its a SUV & it gets good gas mileage. I don't know if it would be big enough for 3 growing kids. Maybe it might depend how big, physically your kids are, if you got huge football players you might need a Tahoe, LOL.
