I have heard a lot about clomid and after reading the posts in responce to the other moms questions, I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what it costs monthly. I have trying to get pregnant for 6 months which i know isnt that long in retrospect, but i have been very interested in it and was wondering what it costs?

What can I do next?

YOu are young - relax and increase your knowledge on fertility and your cycle. I always recommend the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. I learned a ton and it helped me get pregnant. good luck

I used it just over four years ago, my insurance didn't cover it, you get five pills per cycle and I payed $25.00 at walgreens. try calling around to see if any pharmacies have a different price, but if it works right away like it did for me the $25.00 was so worth it, we only did one cycle. Good luck!!!

There's not an easy answer to this question. There are a lot of factors that come into play. Do you have insurance; do they cover infertility; as part of that coverage, are prescriptions included? Those are just a few off the top of my head.

So, look into the answers for those questions. When I took Clomid, my insurance wouldn't cover it. There IS a generic Clomid and I could get that for about $30 or $35 a month - for 5 pills.

Now, if your insurance doesn't cover infertility things, I have a suggestion. (Make sure you read the fine print about infertility treatment - when my insurance offered coverage, it didn't include anything medical or any prescriptions - only the office visits!!) Ok, as my insurance didn't cover the pills, I talked to the local hospital's outpatient pharmacy. They offered medication at MUCH less than any other pharmacy - I got my generic Clomid for, I think, $5 - maybe $10. The only thing is that they needed a few days to fill it. I guess Clomid isn't somethig they keep there with regularity. So I had to give them like a week.

Anyway, the price has a pretty big range depending on the answers to a few questions. That doesn't really help you, but like I said, for generic I paid between $5 and about $30 - that was without insurance as it wasn't covered at the time. At that time, my covered prescriptions were $10 - but I'd been trying for 6.5 years!! Kinda worth it to me!

Insurance usually covers it so it is not expensive. I think it cost us under 5.00 for a prescription, we have blue cross blue shield. Good luck.

It took me 9 years to become pregnant. Test after test, temperature charts etc.

I went to a doctor in Tucson that said let's try clomid. I ended up taking double doses ($100) a month. After 3 months he took me off it to give my body a rest for a month. Then the next time he left me on it for 4 months and BINGO!

I had single births both times. This was 25 years ago. Your just getting started relax. Be careful what you wish for you might get it. Ha! HA!

I can tell you from experience (I just finished my 2nd cycle of Clomid)that the price differs depending on the milligrams that are prescribed.

My first cycle was 50 milligrams and I paid 27.00 for a 5 day supply...my second cycle was 100 milligrams and I paid 36.00 for a 5 day supply...so it depends on what is prescibed.

It doesn't hurt to see your doctor and try to find the cause of your problems. Clomid will only help if you have an ovulatory disorder, so getting checked out is the best way to go. You should also do some research on how Clomid works, and the possible side effects just so that you are well educated when/if the time comes.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!! I'M ROOTING FOR YOU!

Have you talked to your doctor? Maybe it's progesterone you need. I tried progesterone and the robitussin cough syrup. The progesterone was prescribed by my doctor and the cough syrup I took on my own. Read up on the cough syrup - there's a website that tells you when to take it and what kind to take. The first time I tried the cough syrup I got pregnant. The cough syrup increases your CM (cervical mucus).

Good luck.
