Cleaning KRUPS Coffee Maker?

Any suggestions? It's been collecting dust for some time now and I am starting to crave a daily cup again. The instruction manual mentions a descaling solution but that is long gone! Any alteranative cleaning options?

What can I do next?

I would go to the store and buy solution that they make for cleaning coffee makers. the old fashioned solution is vinegar and water. run it through once half white vinegar and half water. run another cycle with just water to clean it out. that should do the trick.

Hi D.,

Run water through it like you are making coffee, just don't put the coffee in it.

Good luck. D.

HI D., I'm not familer with that brand of coffee maker, but if you have to add the water you can de-scale or clean your coffee maker with a pot of water with a cup of white vinager added to it. Just run the water/vinager mixture through then run a couple of pots of water through to rinse it. If you coffee pot has lime build up you can remove that with ice & salt...just put some ice cubes and some salt in the pot and swish it around. The salt will scrub the lime off without scratching the pot. Best wishes.

once every few months i clean mine with vinegar and hot water. just ventilate the kitchen well, the vinegar gets pretty stinky with the hot water. then i run just plain water through it usually twice since the vinegar smell is so strong. i have never tried just going from the vinegar water cleaning right to making coffee. it always smelled so strong i was worried my coffee would taste like vinegar. running water twice normally dissipates that odor for me. ps... baking soda works great for the coffee pot as well.

Dear D.,
Try White vinegar. Run it through a cycle, then run water through another cycle. It will clean it throughout.

Fill up your decanter by mixing a 50/50 white vinegar/water solution and run it through. Then run a full decanter of plain water. Should be as good as new :)

This works for any coffee maker:

4 cups of vinegar
4 to 6 cups of water

Place filter in coffee maker and run this solution through until half of it is brewed. Let it sit in the coffee maker for 30 mins..then brew the rest of the solution. Rinse out the coffee maker and re-brew a full pot of just water. You'll be good to go!!!

Hi D.,

Vinegar works wonders. Run about a cup of vinegar through as if you were brewing coffee. It will stink up the kitchen, but the coffee maker will shine!

white vinegar is what i use to clean scale build up. much nicer to use than other chemicals! so you put in i think a cup of vinegar and run it thru the regular cycle - i don't think you let it sit for that long. but then flush teh coffee maker with 2 pots full of water 9which you brew thru like you did the white vinegar).

and if you can, use organic coffee.
i would also suggest a french press which is what i have been using. boil water, pour over courser ground beans and then press grounds to bottom after 4 minutes. so yummy! and then i don't have to clean the coffee maker which i just put away since i stopped using it over teh french press!
enjoy!
