my daughter broke a bottle of finger nail polish all over her dress and I was wondering if any one had any tried and true methods for removal.

So What Happened?

after lots of trial and error I finally got the color out althoug the spot is still kinda stiff. Wd40 didn't budge the polish and the acetone just kinda took a little of the color out. I ended up using carpet cleaner ment to be used with a steam cleaner. It's not perfect but only I know that.

A friend of mine used Off - Bug spray to remove nail polish from a bed comforter. She said it looks good as new! Hope this helps!

Polish remover may work, but you might just want to go to the straight acetone. There are bottles next to polish remover, it will say 100% acetone.

if its a natural fiber, you can use acetone . Lay the dress stain side down on a white paper towel and use a dropper to drip acetone on the backside of the nail polish stain and then rinse with lukewarm water. keep doing that until you don't get any more polish to transfer to the paper towels. Use a prewash stain remover and launder as usual. as long as its a natural fabric, it should do the trick, but if it is acetate or triacetate, it will melt the cloth.

Use SOL-U-MEL. It’s a mother’s dream!! It gets tough stains out of EVERYTHING! It took out permanent marker from our couch upholstery and I recently used it to get old stains from our carpet. It took crayon off the wall in one swipe! It’s amazing!!!

Try wd40. It has worked on removing nail polish and lots of other things at our house that nothing else worked on.

Motsenbacher's Lift Off #3 got nail polish out of my beige carpet easy peasy, but I dont know how it would work on clothes. I had to order it online and it took a few days to come, but it still came right out of the carpet.

I had gotten some paint on a black dress. I tried Sol U Mel by melaleuca and it got out the paint without damaging the material or color.
