We take our 5 month old son to a sitter full time, who works from home, and has a few other children she watches. I want to get her a gift for the holidays but I have no idea what is appropriate as far as how much to spend and if she would have certain expectations. Thoughts?

A gift card to a restaurant or a massage. That would be a nice gift as it would take place out of the home away from children. I would do it in the amount of a days pay (her pay)

Not a large amount. Maybe like $25/$35 dollars. A simple card with a gift certificate to get a manicure or her hair done is always wonderful for a woman who rarely prob gets to do for herself. She prob has very few expectations, and no matter what you got for her, she would be blessed, and very thankful.
Since it is full time the least should be $50. This is the person that takes care of your child full time. I clean peoples houses and at Christmas they all tip at least $50 (and some as high as $100) and I am only there once a week. I do understand times can be tough but cut out something else and give your sitter the appriciation she deserves! I will be giving mine $50 and she only picks up my son 2 times a week.
I'm not sure about the amount--that's really up to you. Maybe $50? How about a gas/grocery gift card? I think everyone could use those!
I completely agree with the gift card idea, whether it be for gas/groceries or a nice restaurant. If she's a single woman, maybe the gas/groceries maybe more helpful than a restaurant card where it's nicer to share with a friend/loved one.
