Hello, hello...again.
Does anyone know of a Christian counselor in the S OP area? If so, what do they charge, etc.? I'd go to my church but I just don't feel a connection there (super long story) and feel that they'd be judgmental listening to me talk. We're looking for a new church now but in the mean time, I'd just like to have someone to talk to. Our marriage is great. I just have a lot of very personal family issues I've gotta get off my chest.
I would suggest Heart Connexion Ministries or Lifeline Counseling Center. These organizations have partnered and offer a wide variety of counseling options. Everything from one on one counseling to experiental seminars. My husband and I have received both personal and couples therapy there and benefited very much. Our church has a counseling service, but we're further north, near 87th & K-7. If 95th & Switzer isn't too far north for you, I highly recommend Don Hess at http://www.kcccc.org/index.htm. I first went to see him for marriage counseling, but my husband wouldn't go after a few times. I continued seeing him myself and worked through a lot of "family issues" myself. He is a good listener, very understanding, and has lots of wisdom to share.
Sherry Wood is someone that I used to see. She is a very sweet lady & was very helpful. She is also the one that got me wanting to start going back to church again. The church I started at, because of her, has felt like a family to me. Her number is ###-###-####.

Try Catholic Charities. You don't have to be Catholic (their counselors aren't even all Catholic, I don't think). They have a sliding scale for payment if I remember correctly.
I love our church, we have been going there for over 4 years. There is no judgement in our church with leadership or congregation. My Pastor would love to help anyone who needs guidance. We also have a lovely woman on staff who used to be a school guidance counselor. She is a friend of mine and I would feel comfortable talking to her about anything in confidence.
