I have done this for my 2 daughters as well. I get new charms to celebrate milestones, special occassions etc. I got sterling silver starter bracelets and I love this website http://www.charmfactory.com/ their prices and selection are great.
Hello mama's! Both of my daughters birthdays are coming up shortly and I would like to give them each a charm bracelet. Every year give them another charm to add to it. I am actually kicking myself for not doing this when they turned 1. They will be 3 and 5. Where are some good stores that have these and really cute/unique charms?

James Avery... They have the best selection of charms and are known for their charm bracelets.
There are tons of places online and especially for silver you don't have to spend a lot, fun charms can be had for $15 or less, if they are silver you can bend the jump ring and put them on yourself and avoid paying a jeweler. Avoid designs that can snag. One additional thought is if you purchase a bracelet consider getting one with an engraveable starter charm on it so you can put your girls initials on them right away so they don't get mixed up.
Well, Girly Girls was the big store in AZ that we could find charms.
I am sure Claires, Icing, or Justice may be good places to start.
They are not cheap, but they are silver not gold.
James Avery has the best that I've seen. You can pick gold or silver for the bracelets or the charms.
Good luck and happy birthday to your girls.

We do this for both of my girls. We purchase the charms at a local jeweler. The jeweler puts the charms on the bracelets with a sodered ring which is less likely to break loose. Sterling silver charms run anywhere from $18 to $25 each. We have been able to find some unique charms by ordering through various catalogs. Another good resource is www.preciousaccents.com which carries a huge selection of Rembrandt charms at comparable pricing. Good luck and have fun!
EDIT: We decided to get a braclet sized for an adult rather than a child since we don't plan to let them wear the bracelets until they are teens.
James Avery has beautiful charms and they are from in Texas! Our daughter has been collecting these charms since she was 5. It is an easy thing for friends and family to also give her. She can point to each and tell you who gave her each one and for what occasion.
I agree that you should get a adult sized bracelet, but consider getting a chain so that when they first get the charm they can wear it on a child sized necklace till you take it to have the charm attached to the bracelet..
my friend does this for my girls, not a real expensive braclet and the charms are from clares usually. She started it for their babtism, and get a charm on birthdays, and christmas. the braclets are stored for now they are still too big, but they love getting their charms
