I doubt it. My sister went through this for several years with her MS...they'll tell you to apply for office jobs. Disability is very hard to get on to. It's just like welfare and foodstamps--those of you who actually need help can't get it because others who are just plain lazy have raped the system :(

Edited to add: After 3 years, my sister WAS able to get on disability with the help of "one of those lawyers you see on tv." Her total disability income MONTHLY is $230. That's $7.66 a day. She has a double teaching degree which she is still paying the student loans for, and a 3 yr old and 2 yr old. Her disability income is far WORSE than working at minimum wage or even doing transcription work from home at her own pace. Check out your other options before resorting to the government.

The MOST IMPORTANT THING You can do is
number ONE; get on a GOOD multi-vitamin supplement, and i don't mean one from Kroger, GO To the health food store and get some input on one that is LOADED with HIGH dosages of Vitamins AND MINERALS. (and please don't buy into that baloney that you're taking too much, you're displaying flagrant signs of gross vitamin deficiency by your symptoms)
NUMBER 2, this is almost as important as the first one,
go to you kitchen and start throwing away EVERYTHING!! White bread, soda pop, potato chips, snack foods, cured meat, ice cream and everything else that is not WHOLE Grain, or directly from Nature.
Go buy Orange Juice, 100% whole wheat bread, HONEY, whole grains pasta, stuff made WITHOUT Sugar, drink Tea, instead of pop and sweeten it with lemon and honey or stevia, buy TONS OF Fresh fruit and veggies, and live on them. If you get hungry, eat fruits or veggies, not chips out of a bag. Nuts are also healthy and nutritious. Get the low-sodium kind. Eat Kashi for breakfast, it's very healthy.
Number 3, start exercising. Get up in the morning and STRETCH For starters. Walk down the street, or maybe around your house
Number 4, Lose weight. that will come naturally once you begin eating healthy and nutritious foods;
Number 5, visit Dr. Joseph Mercola's website and get nutritional information and start healing your body, you will see amazing results once you start on a real vitamin supplement that meets your nutritional needs.
Your body didn't get sick because it needs a drug. It is sick because it isn't being taken care of. God did not make us to live on this horribly unhealthy food, we were made to eat "The fruit of the EARTH" not some man-made garbage in a can or out of a bag. If it doesn't remember where it came from, don't eat it.
Follow this advice for real results and changes in your health, it's the ONLY way!!

If there is any kind of job at all that you can get you need to explore those options first. You may be able to get a job, like a desk job, that would pay better than having disability.

But if you do apply for it know that you always get turned down the first time and you have to go thru the process again.

Ask your doctor how to apply.

my husband is diabetic. Do you need to lose weight? He went on a plan that not only helped him lose weight but brought his numbers down to normal, and quickly because it was so balanced and healthy. Also low glycemic. Let me know if you would like a link to the plan.

That depends. I would talk to your doctor about it and see what he/she thinks. My mom had to fight for three years to get disability and she clearly has medical issues that stand in her way of having any sort of job. She ended up hiring an attorney that specializes in social security disability cases and she was finally granted it. I honestly think she called one of those attorneys you see the commercials for on TV. Good luck.

"Fred's Mother" has some very good advice, BUT I would not go to a health food store for a multivitamin pill. The clerks there do not necessarily know what they are doing, and they will load you up with a bunch of isolated bottles. That is NOT how nature devised nutrition to work. Moreover, pills are only absorbed about 20-30% even in people whose systems are working perfectly, which yours is not. As proof, put a vitamin or supplement in a bowl of white vinegar and wait 20 minutes. Whatever is still left is what is NOT dissolved in your stomach and which will then pass through your intestines unabsorbed! Useless, and a waste of money. And what did you absorb - a balance of what was in it, or only the outer coating or wax and shellac they put it in to help it pop out of the mold?

And where are the products manufactured? Under what conditions? Are the raw ingredients quarantined and tested independently?

The American Medical Association recommended, in 2002, that everyone take a supplement, and that liquid supplementation is best. It's much more highly absorbed. Pre-mixed liquids lose potency the longer they sit around, so a powder that is mixed at the time of consumption is best.

I would suggest you get more info on GlucAffect from Reliv International. It has had clinical trials (with a control group) showing a 30% reduction in fasting blood sugar as well as an average 16 pound weight loss among test subjects in 8 weeks. It is manufactured in the US under strict, near-pharmaceutical grade conditions, but it is entirely a food product with no drugs or chemicals. It is the blend of ingredients that is key - not the individual ingredients. Some blood sugar control product you pick up in a store is not going to give you the info, and the company is not going to give you the support or the guarantee.

You can live with diabetes that is getting worse, now with nerve damage. You can think about disability, but your life will just go downhill. Is that what you want long term?
